To help in the fight against cancer, Rodeo City Music Hall is sponsoring a performance on Friday, March 21, 2008, to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.  The show  will include a variety of music, including Country, Gospel, Oldies Rock ‘n’ Roll, and Pop.

Relay for Life began in the mid-1980s with one person, Dr. Gordy Klatt of Tacoma, Washington, who wanted to make a difference.  Today, Relay for Life gives a community an opportunity to become involved in the battle against cancer.  Cancer touches on many lives in the Mesquite area.  RCMH wants to honor these individuals and make a difference in the community by becoming a part of Relay for Life.

Some of the RCMH family that has been touched by cancer either personally or by association are:

Karol Dyess’ uncle and her dad, Clyde Skoglund’s brother, Raymond Skoglund;  Robert Dyess’ father, Mickey St. John;Forrest Turner, RCMH’s cameraman and grandfather to performer Lacee Turner;Performer Amber Carrington’s mom and Ron & Jean Vice’s daughter, Shonda Gaylord;Performer James Gregory’s mom, Patsy Fisher; Performer Candice Lloyd’s grandmothers, Janie Mosley, a breast cancer survivor, and Mary Lloyd; Corey Wright’s mom, Denise Ragsdale.

“This benefit helps us honor those we have lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived,” says Ms. Clara Walker, owner of RCMH.
