No pictures today. Just a sad update on my favorite puppy.

We were playing with one of his toys the other day, and he jumped up and landed on the side of his foot. Poor little guy was yelping and limping around for about 10 minutes straight. It was heartbreaking.

Turns out, he sprained his toe. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but Hurls was shaking and huddling in the corner the ENTIRE night. I pretty much want to cry.

The vets gave him puppy aspiring, but it doesn't seem to help all that much. He's still hobbling around on three legs. They said it'd take a few days to start feeling better.

Hurley was in an attack-my-toys kinda mood last night. See what went down in the photos...

Hurley just turned four months, but you'd never guess it by looking at him.

An assistant at his vet's office, the Valley Ranch Pet Clinic, calls him "Old Man Puppy" (in an endearing way, of course).

Take a look for yourself. He's got grey all over the place! Must be the Yorkie in him.

Hurley painted his own pumpkin ... needless to say, he's a little narcissistic.

Though I have yet to  prepare at all for Halloween, I have decided on the most important thing — what little Hurley will be for his first spooky holiday.

As many of you know, I have one pet in addition to Hurley — a fat rabbit named Paco. In a desperate attempt to be ironic, I chose a fluffy RABBIT costume him.

Could you imagine — me on Halloween night, walking two rabbits — one dog/rabbit and one real one? Funny, right?

My boyfriend wasn't amused at the costume choice. "My dog is NOT wearing that."

Hurley was even less amused. I had him try on his costume this weekend and, needless to say, the reaction was hilarious. He tried to rip it off with his teeth immediately. He wriggled; he rolled; he jumped, but he just could not get it off! Check out the video.

Maybe I should just have him wear around the house for the next few weeks; get him used to it. He's wearing that darned costume!!!

That's how much I got to sleep last night.

For the first time in the two weeks we've had Hurley, he SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! Woohoo!! I haven't feel this rested in a long time.

He's getting very smart, too. He's picking up on potty training a lot quicker than pups his age are supposed to (usually, they don't start learning until 12 weeks — he's only eight weeks!).

He loves to go on walks, although he can't go for long — his little legs are so small, he gets tired really quickly! He also LOVES to chew on stuffed animals. OH, and my shoes.

He does some pretty quirky things, too. One time, he somehow got into the back of our TV/DVD stand. He made his way to the front of it, where there is a glass door, but couldn't find his way out!! Look in the pictures above to see how funny it looked!

There are also a few of him attacking his Carebear, sleeping with his legs in the air on the couch, trying to bite the camera and doing his "bat dog" pose.

ENJOY!

I'm now the proud mother of Hurley. :)

He's been playing, sleeping and using the bathroom A LOT. Luckily, he does most of his business on the puppy pads we bought (he's too young to hold it very long...so he can't go outside every time). He's become really attached to us already. Anytime we even think about leaving the room he whines and howls (well, sort of... it sounds like Copper from "Fox in the Hound" when he tries -- not very threatening!)

It's going to be a task to work him up til where he can be alone for hours at a time. He's so used to be around seven other puppies, he gets lonely very quickly.

The night was a little rough. He did NOT like being in his crate. We put it near our bed, but alas, that didn't help much either. He woke us up every few hours crying. :( Breaks your heart. Anyway, it's all expected, though. I've always heard that young puppies are like babies ... they need tons of attention and patience.

Other than all that, Hurley's been wonderful. He'll just sit on the couch or bed with me, laying on my legs or my stomach. He loves to give puppy kisses and horse around!

I'd forgotton how tiny he was, too. He's actually smaller than my rabbit. We've yet to introduce those two ... one step at a time, we figured. Anyway, check out the pictures. Notice the one of him sleeping on my shoe -- he's smaller than it. A few minutes before that he was actually sleeping halfway IN my shoe, but by the time i got by camera, he had rearranged!
