Lawry’s The Prime Rib is celebrating its 70th anniversary and its 25th year in Dallas with a dinner for two during the month June. Lawry’s The Prime Rib was the first restaurant in Beverly Hills to serve only one entrée, rock salt-Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef, carved to order tableside from rolling silver carts. Today, the restaurant still serves its signature prime rib with a Spinning Bowl Salad and sides of creamed corn, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, whipped cream horseradish and Yorkshire pudding. After four years of highly successful Summer Dinner Lectures, the Dallas Peace Center has expanded their concept to bring three exhilarating speakers to Dallas throughout the summer months. The first speaker, Rita Marie Johnson, founder of the Academy for Peace of Costa Rica, will deliver “A Nation’s Peace Story” on June 4 at FunAsia, 1210 E. Beltline Rd., Richardson. Dinner will be at 6:30 and the lecture at 7:30 p.m. In 2002, Johnson founded the Academy for Peace of Costa Rica (APCR) in 2003 with the aim of citizens passing peaceful skills from generation to generation. The Teen Camp program is a TRAPS 2007 award winner and is offered to youth ages 13-18 years. This is a life preperation program to help teens develop skills and assets that are important to growing up healthy, principled and caring. Particpants will spend half of their day gaining knowledge through hands on projects, field trips and listening to guest speakkers. The remainder of the day will be spent working with the children in Camp Do-It-All gaining valuable experience. Teen camp participants will go on field trips of their won as well as some with Camp Do-It-All. Camps will be held at Denton Creek and Cottonwood Creek Elementary in Coppell. Camp Do-it-All is an award winning summer day camp program for children ages 6-12 years. Camp dates are June 9- August 22. Attention all current and prior U.S. military officers. On 11 Jun, 2008, the North D-FW Chapter, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), will host a dinner meeting at Sneaky Pete's Banquet facility, 2 Eagle Point Rd,Lewisville, TX. Cost is $26.00 per person for the buffet of chicken and roast beef. Cash bar is available. Social hour at 6:30 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM. Musical entertainment will be provided by Cindy Renee. MOAA is an organization of active duty, retired and former officers of the seven U.S. uniformed services.
