The story of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is familiar to many, as books, TV programs, radio shows, and songs for years have shared Mary’s journey to Bethlehem and much of what followed. However, it is not everyday that we get the opportunity to truly experience the spirit that must have filled the air on the night that our Lord entered this earth. Chisholm Baptist Church would like to extend an invitation for you to join them to share “A Night in Bethlehem.” This Live Nativity scene, complete with animals, elaborate costumes, live narration, and singing will take you back in time and fill your heart with the warmth and hope given to us through the birth of Christ and his promise of salvation.

Snowball Express Walk of Gratitude for Armed
Snowball Express is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring children who have lost a parent in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars since September 11, 2001. This year, from December 9-13, Snowball Express is bringing more than 1,300 Snowball families to Dallas, Texas for an all-expense paid gathering, with visits to Southfork Ranch, Mesquite Rodeo, a festival at the Dallas Convention Center, and a special, all-day event sponsored by the Dallas Cowboys. “SURVIVOR” OPEN CASTING CALL IN FORT WORTH
CBS 11 will host an open casting call for SURVIVOR in Fort Worth at Bankston Ford Mazda on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bankston Ford Mazda (formerly known as Charlie Hillard Ford Mazda) is located at 5000 Bryant Irvin Road.
Prospective “Survivors” will each record a short video, which will be submitted to the show producers for consideration. The producers will select contestants based upon the following traits: strong-willed, outgoing, adventurous, physically and mentally adept and adaptability to new environments. Interesting lifestyles, backgrounds and personalities are also important considerations.

Alzheimers Caregivers Support Group
New Life In Christ Lutheran Church will celebrate caregivers at the December Caregivers Support Group meeting. The support group will meet one week earlier for December due to the Christmas season. Our meeting date for December will be Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 11:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M. at New Life In Christ Lutheran Church, 311 South Cockrell Hill Road, Duncanville.
The focus for the December meeting will be the caregiver as well as their loved one. We will share ideas on holiday settings to enhance the wellbeing of our loved one and how to maintain a tranquil time during this busy time of the year. Noise, lighting and other distractions might cause confusion for an Alzheimer’s patient. We invite caregivers to come out and share their stories and ideas as well as gain knowledge from other caregivers. We will find that by lending our support and comfort to others will also help each of us as we travel this Alzheimer path with our loved one.

St. Paul Lutheran Church presents its 19th annual “Journey to the Manger” live nativity drama December 11 & 12. See a re-creation of a market place as it would have been in Biblical times in the little town of Bethlehem, complete with bakers, weavers, potters, candy makers and other merchants. Also witness six live action scenes depicting the major events leading to the birth of Christ. Over 100 members of the church participate in this lively production, dressed in costumes from that era. Vocal Majority in Midlothian!

This year, Dallas’ internationally recognized Vocal Majority® Chorus, America’s premier pops chorus, will again be performing a Christmas concert hosted by the Midlothian Masonic scholarship foundation This 150 plus voice male chorus is known for its lush a cappella harmonies.
The Vocal Majority is accustomed to sell-out performances in Bass hall, the Eiseman center, the Meyerson and many others. They have performed for presidents and with the Mormon tabernacle choir. The program includes classic Christmas songs performed in the Vocal Majority’s signature barbershop style. CHRISTMAS SEASON:
On Wednesday, Dec. 16, neighbors will be serving officers at 11:30 am until 3:00 pm. Officers will also come as they can.

Winter SolstiCelebration returns for its 17th year, attracting over a thousand people each year who come to experience the redemptive power of darkness and the regenerative nature of light, the beloved North Texas celebration is the second largest Winter Solstice gathering in the nation.
For 2009, the multi-cultural, non-sectarian event explores the theme of Joy & Wonder through song, poetry, ceremony, dance, comedy, ritual, storytelling, drumming and a myriad of musical styles. This year also features puppetry, magic, juggling and even professional yo-yo artistry. It promises to be lighthearted yet full of awe.
In the hour before and after the Winter Solstice service, a lively Yule Fest in the lobby hosts roving characters, music, photos with Father Winter and much more. Arriving attendees are blessed by the Wonder Women and invited to symbolically help prepare a communal soup in the fellowship hall. The traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge, England. The next year the Order of Service was revised and from then on the service has always begun with the hymn, “Once in Royal David’s City.” In the years to follow, carols were often changed and new carols were introduced, but the lessons and prayers have remained virtually intact from the beginning.
The idea for a service of Lessons and Carols originated in 1880 when the Archbishop of Canterbury put together a service for Christmas Eve. The King’s College service became an accepted model and has been adapted again and again by other churches around the world.
The main theme of the Service of Lessons and Carols is “the loving purposes of God” presented through the scripture readings. These readings provide both the structural pattern a | Grace Bible Church

The Science of Spying – Extended!
Held over by popular demand, the interactive The Science of Spying exhibit gives eager spy-wannabes of all ages an opportunity to experience the latest spy gadgets and techniques - including remote-control spy planes, night-vision goggles, biometric scanning, infiltrating computer systems and the dolphin spy camera. They also learn how to detect liars, crack safes and find hidden clues. Visitors begin to find out about the plans of the shadowy organization OSTECK, follow the clues to uncover the secret location of its HQ and then escape using their wits.
The museum is open Monday to Saturday: 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday: Noon to 5 PM. General admission for members to the museum and The Science of Spying is free.
