Well, it’s not that I don’t like the Cowboys, it’s just that Eli’s my guy. I was so impressed with the Giants’ performance at Super Bowl XLII, where they went in as underdogs and came out with a 17-14 win in what turned out to be the most watched Super Bowl in history, that even before the half I had switched allegiance.
I mean, Eli and his guys showed what teamwork is all about through thick and thin and ice and freezing temps. Reminded me a little of 1776.
Such action, such drama with so little fanfare! Could the Cowboys do it? I think not.
They can’t even make it to the Super Bowl and look at all that money being spent to get them there; millions on players and even more money on a new stadium and nary a Super Bowl victory in sight.
It’s not like in the good ole days of Sanders and Aikman when they not only went to the Super Bowl, they even won a time or two. Or when Staubach, under the tutelage of Coach Landry, tangled with the almighty Steelers at the Big One and brought Dallas a victory in ‘78. Granted, he didn’t win in ‘79, but at least he went.
OK, so the Cowboys haven’t been to the Super Bowl in a dozen years. Will this be the year?
