Larry King read the question from Tempest in New Orleans. It was directed at Jason Castro. "Does it upset you that some people think your laidback personality is a result of smoking weed?"
Since Jason burst onto the scene, those inaccurate perceptions have been out there, mostly in the blogosphere, that his style comes from being a stoner. The fact that he chose a Bob Marley song and he forgot words to another song in his most important performance didn't help perceptions.
It's far from the truth, of course, because his documented church involvement and missionary work speak for Jason's nature.
Jason told Larry: "It doesn't upset me, but it's kind of an ignorant assumption.
"Just because I'm taking it easy ..."
Brooke White jumped in: "This is the most well-rested guy on the planet. The truth is, he takes more naps than anybody I've ever known.
Jason: "The reason I'm so laid back is because most of the time I just woke up."
Brooke: "He's (always) asleep on the couch. It's amazing."
Syesha Mercado: "We were out at dinner ... and you were sleeping?"
David Cook: "I actually lived with Castro for a while. And I can promise you that representation of him is completely false."
Larry: "It's a myth!"
The hourlong show addressed all sides of the Idol contestants' backgrounds and their plans. Near the end of the show, Larry also offered up a pair of his suspenders, autographed by the finalists, to whoever could accurately list David Archuleta's performance solos on Idol.
One interesting question went to Cook and Archuleta, the finalists who went head to head last week: Would both Davids consider recording a song together for their upcoming CDs?
Cook said he always wondered how Archuleta and he were going to sound on the duet they performed last week.
"A lot of the feedback was positive," Cook said, "so ..."
"Really?" Archuleta snapped. "That's good. At least it is on his side. I think he would just drown my voice out."
Cook then got diplomatic, then offered a friendly jab at his ex-roommate, Jason.
"To be able to share the stage with these guys every week was what made it fun for me, so I would welcome any of it. Archie. Carly. Everybody but Jason."
Good-hearted laughter.
They have to be nice for public appearances, of course, but you could tell these young people thrown into instant fame were enjoying having Jason as their colleague.
