Spoiler alerts: Really? In this day and age?

I realize that you can become a social-media pariah for not adhering to spoiler alerts in your status-update posts or tweets. I realize that basically, it's good manners.

But c'mon.

I remember the comic strip in which a couple is talking about the movie "Titanic" as they're exiting the theater and two kids in line for the next showing hear them and blurt out in disgust, "The boat sinks? Hey, thanks for spoiling the ending."

Maybe it's not exactly the same, but the point is close: It's hard to NOT openly talk/tweet/blog about plots to TV shows or movies without disturbing someone who has it recorded but hasn't had the time to see it. And in this world of social media, is it fair to limit your conversations if the others can't keep up?

What do you think? Discuss.
