Pearce Boys Varsity Soccer won a 3-2 heart-stopper Tuesday night at Highland Park. Highland Park was the first to score early in the first half. Pearce responded with a goal from Keegan Smith, and later in the first half, Juan Bonigno scored another goal to end the half with a 2-1 lead.
Midway through the second half, Keegan Smith connected on a header to bring the lead to 3-1. Late in the second half, a handball was called against Pearce in the box, and Highland Park pulled within one goal on the penalty kick.
The Pearce defense held strong the remainder of the game and maintained the 3-2 lead to keep them a top contender in the district. The next game will be a home game against Frisco Wakeland Friday at 7:15 pm.
