American Idol: firefighter takes front row seat

Mesquite fireman Madison Lyle met Jason's father, Renee Castro, more than 20 years ago, when Jason was just a twinkle in his parents' eyes, as they say.

Madison met Renee at an adult Bible fellowship class, when the Castros first came to the United States. According to Madison, Renee had been a minister in Colombia, and came to the U.S. to go to Dallas Theological Seminary.

"Renee has an exceptional voice," Madison said. "He sings for the Hispanic ministry at Lake Pointe Church."

Because of their longtime friendship, Renee invited Madison out to Hollywood last Wednesday, where the fireman took a front row seat for Idol Gives Back.

"It was incredible," Madison shared with neighborsgo. "Of course this was the night they were taking donations, and all the contestants were on the stage. After it was over, everything was moved off the stage, and the contestants came back out and did an encore of "Shout to the Lord" just for the live audience."

I could hear the emotion in Madison's voice.

"It was amazing," he added. "The whole audience was up on their feet. It was a perfect night to bring a Christian song like that to the Idol stage."
