Chiropractor
Ryan Schroeder has only been in the Garland
area a few months, but his practice has taken him beyond Texas and American borders.
The doctor, a proud University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, and his family spent a
year in Honduras working
with a Christian medical team in Central America.
He is the focus of this week’s neighborsgo
Know Your Neighbor segment. If you have a friend or family member with a neat
story to tell, let us know online at neighborsgo.com/blog/neighbors
or e-mail Garland/Wylie/Sachse
editor Marcus Murphree at mmurphree@neighborsgo.com.
Family: My wife, Jamie, is a registered
nurse and currently stays home with our three children Reed, 5; Ella, 4; and
Addi, 1.
Interesting fact about you most people
don’t know: We lived in Honduras
for one year, May 2008-May 2009, working as team chiropractor and nurse for a
medical/evangelism ministry called World Gospel Outreach. We also worked very closely with the
Christian Chiropractors Association.
Best memory of working in Honduras: Working
with an integrated team (medical, dental and chiropractic) to provide
impoverished and needy patients with the very best care.
What do you miss most about Central America: I miss serving God on the front
lines in full-time ministry. I remind
myself daily that God will present opportunities for me to witness and serve
Him here.
Most rewarding part about helping others
with your profession: I love using my hands to help people get out of pain
and back to health. It is an awesome
privilege.
How long has your practice been in Garland:
I joined Whole Health Chiropractic and Spa in August 2009, working with Dr.
Teresa Jones, D.C., and Teresa Jensen, licensed physical therapist.
What do you enjoy most about being in the Garland/East Dallas
area: People in North Texas are
wonderfully nice and we have had the great opportunity to meet many people that
intentionally live their life for Christ.
This is a wonderful area to live and work.
