The Irving Central Library, 801 W. Irving Blvd., will present “Held in the Heartland: German POWs in the U.S., 1943-1946,” on Dec. 16 from 3-6 p.m.The exhibit will feature the BUSeum 3, a 40-foot school bus converted into a mobile classroom and museum. Visitors will experience 15 narrative display panels, documents, DVD documentaries, and other artifacts. This event is presented in partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2494. Irving Blvd., will sponsor “All Wrapped Up,” free holiday gift wrapping services, entertainment and snacks for the public provided by the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and student volunteers on Dec. 12 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Choose from a unique selection of tags and gift wrapfor a limit of5small or medium sized items per person. Valley Ranch Library, 401 Cimarron Trail, and the Friends of Irving Public Library host the annual holiday celebrations on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. The program will feature a performance by the Las Colinas Elementary Mustang Choir and magic shows by Helen and Joe Drakeley, as well as holiday crafts, refreshments and pictures with Santa Claus. The Chautauqua series continues in Deceber with a demonstration of traditional Bavarian and Austrian folk dances by the Alpine Dancers of Garland. The program on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. will feature performances by children and adult dance groups. The Chautauqua series offers free, monthly performances on the second Saturday of each month in the Central Library’s Auditorium at 801 W. Irving Blvd. Call (972) 721-2606 for more information.

Irving Public Library and the Texas Agri-Life Extension Service, presents a series of workshops teaches parents basic nutrition concepts, food safety, budgeting food dollars and cooking techniques for families with children. Each class is 90 minutes once a week for eight weeks. The free classes are offered in English and Spanish at the Northwest Branch, 2928 N. Beltline Rd. The English EFNEP classes meet on Tuesdays, January 5 through February 23 at 6 p.m. The Spanish EFNEP classes meet on Thursdays, January 7 through February 25 at 6 p.m. Registration is required.
