I was walking to class one day, and I was hit by a car. Yes, it actually did happen. No worries. I’m OK. But I do seem to be oddly drawn to painfully clumsy circumstances and particularly uncomfortable social situations. Like the time my dance partner asked me, “Can you feel the beat in the music at all?” Clearly, no. It seems I am constantly acquiring new bruises – to my body and my ego. And so I give you Awkward Turtle.

After months of planning and weeks of searching, I finally adopted a dog. He’s a 1-year-old Maltese — a small, white ball of fur.

I got my dog from a family friend who realized things were just too chaotic with three dogs and four grandchildren.

I really want to adopt a dog. I applied with a rescue group and was approved, and I went to a meet-and-greet to see Violet, a 5-year-old shih tzu I had my eye on.

I finally found my new apartment. I’m thrilled. There’s only one setback – no washer or dryer.

I’m trying to be optimistic. The laundry room is just down the hall. And I can do a few loads all at once (theoretically).

The optimism thing was working – until I talked to my friend from college, and she reminded me about the giant orange underpants.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for the really awesome digital camera. It was an excellent birthday present. It took some great photos during its 3 ½ months on this earth.
