Frisco High School Gametime

Basketball season is now in full swing and area teams have began there season on a quest to fight for city bragging rights yet again. The boys basketball teams in Frisco have showed some resilience in their first few games with some exciting match ups. For Frisco Liberty scoring hasn't been an issue, they will just have to find a way to win the games. Frisco Centennial is returning multiple team leaders from last season and Frisco Wakeland is poised to have another good year as they gained respect with the best record among all Frisco teams last season. District play will not begin until after the Winter Holiday Break but important non-district games will be played for teams to try and determine their identity. Each team will have it's strengths and weaknesses, but who will appear on top of this years District 9-4A?
Frisco: Frisco started their season off right with a win over Carrollton Newman Smith. Returning starters Ben Dillard and Quince Jackson lead the team as Dillard had 29 points and Jackson 20. Frisco will have to prove themselves in non-district play to gain a reputation. Much like other Frisco teams they are returning starters with a few newcomers. The challenge will be improving on a 3-11 district record last season.
Frisco Centennial: Frisco Centennial finished middle of the road last season. They struggled to find their rhythm and finished with a 6-8 district record. Centennial has replaced their head coach and gained two new assistant coaches also. A new system will be interesting to watch as Centennial won it's first game against Denton Ryan in a low scoring affair 39-37. The team should be lead by returning starters that will likely fill the void of graduating seniors. Zach Lambert was at the top of the statistics last season and will look to help put Centennial over the top in the standings.
Frisco Liberty: Frisco Liberty needs a turn around after last seasons 2-12 last place in district finish. Liberty has proved they can score early this season as they defeated Wichita Falls Rider 73-63. The team was lead by Bruce Wright and Blake Jefferson along with a plethora of bench players who pitched in. Wright lead the team with 16 points and Jefferson had 11. With Liberty's depth they could easily turn there losing ways around.
Frisco Wakeland: Frisco Wakeland has proven themselves as a threat and now has a winning reputation and will have to improve on that reputation this season. Frisco Wakeland will be without Preston Whitley who graduated last year but was a leader in many offensive categories last season. Wakeland started their season off with a loss to Wylie 67-53 but was lead by Jonathan Jeschke who had 22 points and returning starter Nick Hinton who had 15.
It certainly will be an interesting season as each team has improved and will each get a chance to prove themselves and play each other in exciting district games.
Please wait...
Both of Frisco's playoff football teams kept their seasons rolling this past week as Frisco Liberty beat Rockwall Heath and Frisco Legacy Christian beat Fort Worth Lake Country. Liberty will play Lincoln in it's next playoff game. Meanwhile the UIL State Cross Country meet was held in Round Rock this weekend and three different Frisco schools saw success. Also the volleyball playoffs were finalized this weekend with a chance to play into state was held for one Frisco team. Basketball season has started for most schools with scrimmages but official games have began this week.
This past week began with Frisco Liberty and Frisco Centennial both still in the playoffs and still in the hunt for the final spot to send only one team to state. Each team played Tuesday night and Liberty was outmatched as they faced a much superior J.J. Pearce team. Liberty was outmatched and their season was ended in three games at the Garland Special Events Center. Pearce would go on to win it's way into the state tournament in San Marcos this week. About 30 minutes away in Rowlett Centennial was in a battle with Highland Park, the team that kicked them out of the first round last season and eventually went onto the state tournament. Centennial took the first game 25-21 and looked strong, only to be disappointed in a back and forth battle in the second game that they lost 29-27. Centennial would come back from eight points down to win the third game 26-23, and then be embarrassed yet again in the fourth game 25-14. With the crowd on their feet and the gymnasium rocking Centennial got a 5-0 lead on Highland Park in the fifth and final game and never looked back winning it 15-10. Centennial was lead by sophomore Hannah Rauch who had 27 kills and 21 digs. Rauch and her teammates would move on to play Red Oak at the Garland Special Events Center Friday night for a chance to move within one game of state.
Centennial could not find their edge that they had apparently left in Rowlett through much of the first two games against Red Oak. They lost those two games 25-11 and 25-16. With the crowd still sticking with them Centennial rallied for a third game win of 25-16, and after hopes got high again they were beat down by a comeback in the fourth game that would end Centennials season. Red Oak won the fourth and final game 25-18. Centennial gave Red Oak their best shot and gave Red Oak it's first loss in a game since August 29. The season was certainly a great one as Centennial matched a school record for getting so deep in the playoffs. It was fun for the entire city as the lady's kept advancing round by round through the playoffs. They not only could call themselves the best in Frisco but also the second coming of “The Team” that made it just as far in 2006.
In Round Rock the UIL Cross Country Meet was held with several Frisco schools getting high honors. The Liberty boys team earned third in the meet out of 12. The Frisco high girls team got sixth in the Girls division also out of 12 schools. Frisco's only individual award winner was Frisco Wakeland's Maddie Zimmerman who finished tenth. Congratulations to all runners from Frisco who competed in the state meet.
Each basketball team, boys and girls, will play a stretch of non-district games through the holiday break until district play begins in the beginning of December. One athlete is already standing out only a few games into the season. Frisco's Tiffany Moore committed this past week to play at the University of Texas next year. Moore, a 5-10 senior guard, is ranked No. 5 by RivalsHigh.com Girls Hoops and No. 22 in the ESPN HoopGurlz 100. She was the District 9-4A MVP during her junior season. Frisco will face off this week against other area teams in the Allen tournament to try and improve on a their outstanding season last year lead by Moore.
The end is here for the regular season for high school football. Tonight will determine for many teams who will move onto the next step in their season, the playoffs. But for some teams it will be a somber end to an otherwise promising season. Frisco Wakeland suffered a huge loss last week to Frisco Liberty but still has an opportunity to make the playoffs if the scenarios work out for them this week. For other schools like Frisco and Frisco Centennial, the season will end in the biggest rivalry game of the year against each other. For Frisco Liberty, a win against McKinney this week will get them a spot in the playoffs and solidify themselves as the “Best Team In Frisco”. In all respect it's been a good run, and an exciting season for each team. They have given us countless memories of great games and as we look forward to another enticing playoffs we say, “It's been a good run.”
In this weeks key matchups Frisco Liberty plays at McKinney to try and earn a win and a spot in the playoffs. Also, Frisco Centennial will play what will turnout to be it's biggest game of the season against winless Frisco in a battle between the first two Frisco high schools. Frisco Wakeland faces McKinney North to fight for a playoff spot.
Frisco Liberty (5-4) (4-2) VS. McKinney (3-6) (3-3)*Game of the Week*
7:30 p.m. Friday at McKinney's Ron Poe Stadium
Liberty no longer has something to prove but rather has proven themselves. They went into last weeks game against Wakeland as a middle of the road team fighting it's way towards the playoffs and left with a huge win and second spot in the district. Liberty was lead by quarterback Brandon Brotzman who threw for three touchdowns, and Jay Ajayi who ran for three touchdowns also. There is no doubt that Liberty can score, and do so in many different ways including the Wildcat offense at times. McKinney also has weapons offensively and is looking to prove they can hang with Liberty in this big game.
Frisco Centennial (2-7) (0-6) VS. Frisco (0-9) (0-6)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Pizza Hut Park
Frisco Centennial has had potential big games this year that never lived up to the hype. This game seems to be the last and only that one that can. A loss to Frisco would not determine playoff positions but would definitely give bragging rights to the two original schools of Frisco. Frisco is trying to avoid it's second straight winless season as they will likely give all they've got in the final game of the season. Centennial will try to avoid the upset and end on a high note in an otherwise disappointment of a season.
Frisco Wakeland (6-3) (3-3) VS. McKinney North (2-7) (2-4)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Frisco ISD Memorial Stadium
Frisco Wakeland lost a devastating game last week against rival Liberty but still has a chance of making the playoffs with a win tonight against McKinney North. With a win over North and a win by Liberty over McKinney, Wakeland will find itself in the playoffs for the second time in the four year school history. A balanced attack by Wakeland should over power a lackluster North team to get Wakeland into the playoffs.
Only two games remain in the regular season of high school football and the standings are any where but being determined yet. Dennison and Sherman are still in a heated battle for first place in the divison 9-4A standings before their showdown next week. Behind them are Frisco Wakeland and Frisco Liberty who square dance this week in the battle for second place. Each team has shown signs of greatness and their fair share of weaknesses.
Also in this weeks action Frisco plays McKinney North to try and end the losing streak that continues to haunt them. Frisco Legacy Christian will play McKinney Christian in hopes to keep it's playoff hopes afloat.
Frisco Liberty (4-4) (3-2) VS. Frisco Wakeland (6-2) (3-2)*Game of the Week*
Liberty is recovering from last weeks loss to powerhouse Sherman last week going into this weeks huge game against Wakeland. Wakeland rolled over Frisco last week but could be caught on their heels if they don't watch out against an upstart Liberty team. Liberty couldn't get anything going offensively but running back Jay Ajayi still finished with 153 yards and a score. Wakeland was carried offensively on the back of running back David Robason. Robason had four touchdowns on 159 yards. Although Liberty hasn't thrown the ball very much lately, Wakeland still has a big threat in Tyler Kirkindoll and his array of receivers. The battle for second place in 9-4A will be a run to finish. The game could easily be determined by the back and forth running of each teams run game, but beware of the aerial attack as a surprise in this game.
Frisco (0-8) (0-5) VS. McKinney North (1-7) (1-4)
7:30 p.m. Thursday at McKinney's Ron Poe Stadium
Frisco continued their losing steak last week against a much better Wakeland team last week, but could have it's best chance to derail a winless season this week against McKinney North, another struggling team. Frisco has shown improvement with more points in bigger games, giving district opponents a tough game to handle each week. Frisco cannot have many turnovers and will have to have stellar play from their inconsistent offense lead by Carlos Harris.
Frisco Legacy Christian (5-3) VS. McKinney Christian (2-5)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Frisco Legacy
With a balanced attack of Andrew Journey and Josh Atkinson Legacy Christian rolled over Rockwall Christian. Legacy had 640 yards in the game and dominated, bringing them to (2-1) in their district play. McKinney Christian has struggled this season against better teams and Legacy is on a roll playing their final game of their season with a shot at playoffs in their sight.
One big play can easily determine a games outcome, and last week there were plenty of big plays that helped determine the outcome. For Frisco Centennial the losses continue to happen but one thing that is also happening is the big play performances each week by running back Imoh Edohoukwa who has 82 and 87 yard kickoff returns in each of the past two games to try and spark a failing Centennial team. There is no doubt that one play can change a game but the overall play of some players can also complete a win. David Robason of Frisco Wakeland has the ability to change a game with his runs. Jay Ajayi of Frisco Liberty has proven his versatility can help his team win games as Liberty is sitting in second place in the district. Frisco Legacy's Andrew Journey can dominate on all sides of the offense, scoring four touchdowns last week. The big play performances of all these players have helped propel their teams to success at any given moment.
This week will feature several big play performers. Ajayi will show his skills against a first place Sherman team in what could determine early playoff positions. Frisco Wakeland will be playing Frisco to try and end a losing streak against a down and out Frisco team. Also, Little Elm will play the district 5-4A leading Denton Guyer to try and continue their hot streak.
Frisco Liberty (4-3) (3-1) VS. Sherman (6-1) (4-0)*Game of the Week*
Frisco Liberty has had a rollercoaster of a year without even completing it yet. The team was ranked 15 in the area 4A rankings until key losses to High Land Park, Lovejoy and Denison. Liberty has made the climp back to the top of the standing from a strong running game by Jay Ajayi who has taken pressure off of a still talented quarterback, Malcom Hill. They will be up against a Sherman team who co-leads the district. Sherman is versatile and can score on both sides of the ball. Liberty will have to put up it's biggest fight of the year to win a very important district game.
Frisco Wakeland (5-2) (2-2) VS. Frisco (0-7) (0-4)
Frisco Wakeland is doing things they never do. They are losing and have now lost two straight the last two weeks to fall dramatically in the standings. They will have to have a bounce back game against Frisco. Frisco just cannot pull off a win against much stronger district opponents. Look for key players like Tyler Kirkindoll and David Robason to get back into form for this district game.
Little Elm (2-5) (2-2) VS. Denton Guyer (7-0) (4-0)
7:00 p.m. Friday at Denton's C.H. Collins Athletic Complex
Little Elm could have pulled the upset of the season last week against Denton Ryan but fell a field goal short of the win. They seemed to control the clock despite only throwing for 13 yards. They will face another team that can be upset this week in Denton Guyer. Guyer is undefeated coming into the game but if Little Elms defense shows up with confidence we could see something special happen.
By the numbers, this past weeks games were determined by just that, the numbers. Often times high school games can surprise with numbers that are otherwise ridiculous. This past week struggling Frisco Liberty beat McKinney North with 585 running yards. But the surprising stat in that game came in the passing column. Liberty passed for zero yards all game. The crazy statistics continued as Frisco Centennial traveled to Sherman. Centennial committed 10 fumbles on the soggy field in Sherman, two of which were recovered. Centennial, despite the fumbles, stayed in contention with Sherman up until the final drive.
Everything appears to be shaping up as the weather is feeling more like high school football weather around the Dallas/Fort Worth area. As we have covered the football season volleyball has been in full swing with playoffs fast approaching. A potential playoff match up will happen tonight as the Frisco Centennial Lady Titan's will face off against the Lady RedHawks of Frisco Liberty. Liberty and Centennial are one two in district standings. The game is a rematch of a spirited game on September 22 played at Liberty with Liberty taking the win in four games. Senior Loren Byerly drove Liberty to the win in that game, but this week's game will be played at Centennial. Despite swine flu going through their lineup Liberty has stayed undefeated in district play. This is the Frisco area's biggest volleyball game of the season.
Frisco Centennial (2-4) (0-3) VS. Frisco Liberty (3-3) (2-1)*Game of the Week*
Each team has had their ups and downs this season. For Centennial the positives at the beginning of the season have been overshadowed these past weeks with tough losses to Frisco Wakeland and Sherman. Liberty had some embarrassing losses to unsuspected teams but has bounced back with wins against Frisco and McKinney North. As predicted Jay Ajayi had a huge game last week with 211 rushing yards. He appears to be a weapon in Liberty's offense, especially if they do not throw the ball like they did last week. Centennial needs confidence, and they need it fast. They have lost confidence in quarterback Nick Foster, slowly but surely, as he was taken out of last weeks game against Sherman. Liberty's running attack will test Centennial, but Centennial must counter with strong offensive play to jump start their district play.
Frisco Wakeland (5-1) (2-1) VS. Sherman (5-1) (3-0)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Sherman
Frisco Wakeland is no longer undefeated and found itself in a rare situation, getting beat up by Dennison 56-28 last week. They will have to bounce back against a Sherman team that is tied for the district lead with Dennison. Sherman is coming off of a win at home against Frisco Centennial. Wakeland will need David Robason to trample on Sherman with his running. Wakeland is still versatile enough to beat a tremendous Sherman team, but will have to beat them despite adversity of losing the week before.
Little Elm (2-4) (2-1) VS. Denton Ryan (5-1) (2-1)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Little Elm
The surprise of this game is Little Elm as they are coming off of two straight wins and are tied, with Denton Ryan, for second in the district standings. After a disappointing four loss start to the season Little Elm has started district play off with two straight wins against The Colony and Wichita Falls. Denton Ryan is coming off of a close game in which they lost to Lake Dallas 35-31 for their first loss of the season. No one would have expected these two teams to be tied in the district standings, but if Little Elm can keep their momentum going and bury Denton Ryan while they are already down, they can have sole possession of that second place spot.
The stars are aligning in high school footballs standings. For most teams two district games have been played and the strong are beginning to be separated from the weak. District standings are beginning to shake out, and for school's like Frisco Wakeland the sky is the limit. For others the holes keep getting deeper as school's like Frisco, McKinney and Frisco Centennial can't seem to get a win against district opponents. Each week gives the teams another chance to redeem themselves, and this week's games will be no different.
As cross city rivalries layoff for a week, we will see big games as Frisco Wakeland takes on Dennison for the top of the district standings. Also on the schedule, struggling Frisco Liberty will take on McKinney North. Finally, coming off of their first win of the season Little Elm will make the drive to Wichita Falls in hope to continue it's recent winning streak.
Frisco Wakeland (5-0) (2-0) VS. Dennison (4-1) (2-0)*Game of the Week*
Each of these teams have proved what they've got as both are undefeated in district play. Wakeland is coming off of a win against Frisco Centennial, that was close in the standings but never got close on the field. What beat Centennial was Wakeland's versatility. They have a steady balance of running with David Robason, and aerial assault with quarterback Tyler Kirkindoll throwing to Dallas Grier. Dennison beat McKinney big last week 75-37. Dennison's weapon is quarterback Jordan Taylor who was 13-14 passing and ran for 184 yards also. Each team has weapons, but a more versatile Wakeland team can continue to be be undefeated with no hick-ups against an equally strong Dennison team.
Frisco Liberty (2-3) (1-1) VS. McKinney North (1-4) (1-1)
Frisco Liberty survived what could have been one of the biggest upsets of the year against Frisco last week. Liberty intercepted Frisco in the end-zone with 1:21 remaining in the game to ensure victory, snapping a three game losing streak. McKinney North lost big to Sherman one week after upsetting Frisco Centennial. The two teams know how to score, but the game can be decided on mistakes which both teams find themselves making in key situations. Look for receiver Jay Ajayi to have a good game in a key match up that could put Liberty at .500 in district play at the end of the night.
Little Elm (1-4) (1-1) VS. Wichita Falls (1-4) (1-1)
7:00 p.m. Friday at Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium
This game will feature two teams with equal records and relatively equal offenses. Neither team has a very outstanding offense, but their defenses can tear team's apart. Little Elm is coming off of a dramatic, low scoring, last minute win over The Colony. Although only passing for 39 yards Little Elm still pulled off the win for it's first of the season. Wichita Falls is coming off of a loss to a very good Lake Dallas team. This game will be an all out grudge match between two low scoring teams.
he first week of district play saw many exciting games as teams faced off to gain positional ground in the early standings. Offenses have continued to score big while many area defenses have had to step up against the odds to close out important early games. Strong offensive teams like McKinney lead their team deep into the game this past only to be dissapointed by the defensive stops made by Frisco Wakeland. Frisco Centennial played a tougher than expected McKinney North team who upset the Titans who were an overwhelming favorite. Frisco Liberty was beat by Dennison at home, despite recovering three fumbles that Dennison lost. Little Elm was beaten up by a much stronger Lake Dallas team 45-21.While some teams showed weaknesses not shown before, Frisco Legacy healed it's wounds with a dominating 51-0 win. Although many teams failed to win their first district game the season is still young, and week two of district play can either dig struggling teams a deeper hole or build them up to .500.
This week's games will be highlighted by exciting cross city rivalries, as Centennial goes head-to-head with Wakeland. Also in inner city play, Liberty looks to spoil an already soggy season for Frisco high as they play Frisco's homecoming game. Also in area matchups Little Elm will look to win it's first game of the season against The Colony in yet another rivalry game.
Frisco Centennial (2-2) (0-1) VS. Frisco Wakeland (4-0) (1-0)*Game of the Week*
The title says everything for this inner city matchup, Frisco vs. Frisco. Frisco Wakeland is coming off an amazing goal-line stand win over McKinney. After playing close all game Wakeland stopped McKinney's two point conversion as time expired to stay undefeated on the season. Centennial oppened it's game against McKinney North strong but faded allowing 21 unanswered points to end the game. The game could end up being determined by turnovers as each team had three fumbles apiece last game. Centennial quarterback Nick Foster will have to improve from last game as he showed some lack of composure. He will be counter-attacked by opposing quarterback Tyler Kirkindoll who has jumped to the third area passer. Look for Wakeland to have a big game but to get upset by a deep Frisco Centennial team who may be able to withstand the Wakeland attack.
Frisco (0-4) (0-1) VS. Frisco Liberty (1-3) (0-1)
Both of these teams have been a bit of a let down. Frisco entered this season having lost all of their games last year and have simply added to the streak so far this year. Liberty started the season ranked fifteenth in the area 4A football rankings, only to lose heart breakers to Lovejoy and Dennison. Frisco Liberty has more weapons on offense as it still looks like this may not be Frisco's year, again. Liberty running back Jay Ajayi has established himself as a phenomenal runner as he stacked up 119 yards last week, 72 of them coming off of an incredible touchdown run. Liberty will bounce back after a crushing defeat last week to win against a struggling Frisco team.
Little Elm (0-4) (0-1) VS. The Colony (1-3) (0-1)
7:00 p.m. Friday at The Colony
In this rivalry game featuring The Colony and Little Elm, offense could be scarce while defense could also be lacking also. Both teams are coming off of losses to impressive teams who are at the top of the 4A standings. Little Elm has yet to show a throwing game will an overwhelming amount of it's offense coming from it's run game. The Colony committed three turnovers last week against Denton Guyer on five fumbles. They will need to hold on to the ball as long as possible if they want to pullout a win and get to .500 in district play after this weeks game.
There is no more playing around in high school football. Gone are the warm up games against easy non-district opponents. It's time for the real games, the ones that really matter. Every game from this week on will determine who gets into playoffs. Each team will show their true colors against tough district opponents. Non-district is behind us, and each team took their lumps. For schools like Frisco Centennial, the season is still young after one rough loss to a 5A opponent. Frisco High will look to forget the non-district play of this year as they have gone winless. For some the games this week will be against new teams that they haven't faced before but the true colors of district play will be in the cross-town rivalries that come along with it. It is officially go time for the area high school football teams.
This week's games will feature strong district games as teams will truly begin their season. Frisco Centennial kicks off district play against a winless McKinney North team, as Frisco Wakeland will try to pull of a win against a high scoring McKinney High. Frisco high will try to jump start their season against a very solid Sherman team.
Frisco Centennial (2-1) VS. McKinney North (0-3)
These two teams have combined for exciting games in non-district play. Although both were a part of exciting games Centennial came out with two wins and only one loss to a 5A McKinney Boyd. North lost to Boyd on their first game of the season but they could not play them as close as Centennial did when they met. Centennial is lead by quarterback Nick Foster who is seventh in the area out of all passers. His biggest threat is wideout Timmy Fuller who has stepped up with 18 catches for over 300 yards. North's offense is lead by quarterback Brenton Griffin. He will be tested by a strong Centennial defense lead by linebacker Joe Risoli who had 14 tackles against Mesquite Poteet two weeks ago. Coming off of a bye week Centennial will capitalize on key opportunities to beat a scrappy McKinney North team.
Frisco Wakeland (3-0) VS. McKinney (0-3) *Game of the Week*
7:00 p.m. Friday at McKinney's Ron Poe Stadium
Frisco Wakeland ended district play going undefeated, and winning it's last game in commanding fashion. McKinney on the otherhand had a much harder schedule and lost all of their games but have all the weapons to turn it around. Frisco Wakeland has the gun that is Tyler Kirkindoll, who is second in the area in passing, leading the way. McKinney has a pair of otherwise baseball superstars. Quarterback Zach Lee is just behind Kirkindoll in the area passer rankings, and he is constantly throwing to Matt Lipka who is second in the area in receiving. Both Lee and Lipka played baseball for McKinney leading them deep into the playoffs. Wakeland's fourth ranked defense will have to stop the two-headed monster of Lee-Lipka in order to continue their undefeated streak. This game looks to be a head-to-head battle of heavy-weights, as two offensive juggernauts face off against top ranked defenses.
Frisco (0-3) VS. Sherman (2-1)
No one has denied it, but no one wants it to continue. Frisco hasn't won since 2007. They will have to get a strong performance out of quarterback Carlos Harris in order to step up and get a win this year. They face a Sherman team who have picked up important wins against Rockwall Heath this season and Little Elm. Sherman isn't fascinating on offense but they know how to get a win. Don't look for this to be a high scoring but rather an evened out battle between these two teams.
The recent weather has many high school football teams dancing. The rain dance seems to be a necessity each week as both Thursday night games and Friday night games have been rained out or delayed each week of the season. Homecoming was nearly rained out for Frisco Centennial last week. Frisco Liberty was also delayed as they both ended up on opposite ends of the final scores. Centennial won after a terribly slow start to their game against Mesquite Poteet. Liberty lost it's game to Lovejoy who gained a huge win for their upstart program. Both Centennial and Liberty have a bye week this week.
This week will feature important games that will be the last of the non-district matchups. Frisco Wakeland will play Fort Worth Brewer at home this week, and Frisco will go into Prosper to try for an upset win. The Colony will go into Denton to play an undefeated Denton Guyer team.
Frisco Wakeland (2-0) VS. Fort Worth Brewer (1-1)
Both teams are coming off of wins as Frisco Wakeland looks to extend their unbeaten streak against a tough Fort Worth Brewer team. Wakeland won last week 45-6 last week to Royse City as quarterback Tyler Kirkindoll threw for 431 yards and two touchdowns. Wakeland beat Brewer 45-22 last year at Brewer, tonights game will be played in Frisco. Brewer had a hard time with another Frisco school on it's opening game of the season as they lost to Liberty. Wakeland will continue their offensive attack and stave off an upset to Brewer this week before heading into district play.
Frisco (0-2) VS. Prosper (3-0)
7:30 p.m. Friday at Prosper
Frisco's Raccoons will have to pull off something they haven't done in nearly twelve games in order to shock the Prosper Eagles. They will have to win. Prosper is heading into the game undefeated, and Frisco is coming in without a win all season. Prosper, last years 3-A state champions have not allowed a single point all season. Frisco will need to do the unthinkable to get the win. Frisco has yet to show signs of improvement this season and they will be tested early and often as they are playing in Prosper. The Eagles should soar in this game against a struggling Frisco team.
The Colony (1-2) VS. Denton Guyer (3-0)
The Colony gained their first win of the season last week against R.L. Turner in a 23-6 final. Denton Guyer has won each of it's opening three games, and will look to continue it's streak this week against The Colony. The Colony won last week despite only 25 passing yards. They will have to do more in the air if they will look to upset at Denton Guyer. Guyer is not a predominately passing team either, so the running games could run the score up in this game. As long as Denton Guyer gets some solid throwing numbers, and stop The Colony's run game they should get the win.
