Read the scattered thoughts of a 30-something single broad (and neighborsgo staffer) whose life stays on a roller-coaster. I think in pink sticky notes, LOL cat jokes...and gummy bears. It's OK to laugh.

I'm guessing that it's a good sign that the comedian is in Vegas and has taken the time to call me while he's there. Of course this marks at least four people in the last two months that I know who have traveled to Vegas. I say it's my turn already!

Anywho, as you will see in video in the coming days, our third date at the Improv was interesting, to put it mildly. Our old neighborsgo pal Courtney Flatt and I took time afterward to chat up other single comedians to get their thoughts on dating and being unattached. Meanwhile my date had some pleasant yet cooky things to say, which you will have to wait and hear for yourself.

What I've read time and time again is that making it past the third date says something. Among a lot of things I can't type here (just Google "after the third date"), the preconceived notion of the third date is an official test as to whether or not you will be able to make a sustainable connection. Do you agree? Disagree?

This is strange territory for me, however. I think I'm officially dating. What now? Feel free to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

I’ve told you all that I have been anxiously waiting to be matched up by my “Suzy Matchmaker” (identity to be revealed upon first matchmaking) but I have yet to be matched with anyone. Maybe this is a feat a lot bigger than she or I. So last week I decided to head on down to a singles happy hour where I met an unlikely person — a tech support/comedian.

Apparently we had more in common than I expected so we ended up having dinner on Saturday.

It didn't happen overnight, but I think I'm finally ready to be a grown up. After renting for almost 10 years now, I'm considering being a homeowner. After speaking to my loan officer, I near about fell out of my chair when she showed me, in real hardcore numbers, how much money I've been wasting on apartments. No equity. No investment. And I've had more apartments than real committed relationships.

Though I'm ready to take this plunge, I'm treading very lightly. I know what it means to be single and taking such a step.

Around here St. Patrick’s Day is a real excuse for some good old fashion debauchery. On a Saturday along Greenville in Dallas every year, whether or not St. Patrick’s Day falls on a weekend, begins a full day of block parties, drinking on the street, a parade, yucky stuff you don't want to step in, broken beer bottles, and staggering party folks.

I went out to the “festivities” with a friend of mine. We didn’t do the the full day of mass hysteria. We just strolled down there around six and by then everyone was not just two sheets to the wind but a full duvet. But there was this one seemingly cool guy — one that kept flirting with me and commented on the fact that every time he came by I wasn’t wearing green. Guilty as charged. I was kind of a standout prissy in all pink and a new haircut. Without getting into too many gory details, the total look attracted some unwanted attention. Anyway, this guy seemed pretty sober unlike most of the crowd and I was falling for a line.

Last weekend I heard from who I'm going to call my "Suzy Matchmaker." She has been in Vegas all last week and just got back. She assures me we are about to get down to business and sent a very quick note. In it she asked a question that I always crinkle my nose at: "What race do you prefer dating?"

In the coming weeks I will be seeking the services of a real matchmaker. I'm quite sure I'm not blond enough for Patti on Millionaire Matchmaker (granted I love her show and her advice) but I know a local gal who has been doing it for five years and she assured me she can find the right guy who will fit my personality. I will have to fill out a profile, of course, and figure out my THREE THINGS. Not sure what that means yet...

Before you go thinking that I'm a bad mommy, Tiger Lily insisted on going out last night when I was still up at 3 a.m. and the snow in Dallas finally began to fall. You should have seen her out there. She was chasing down the flakes, playing will little wads of the stuff that she formed with her little paws and ran about the balcony like a kitten. She's nearly five now.

I never thought I would see such a thing. A cat in the snow? I told you she was special. Oh and she only lasted seven minutes out there as you can imagine.

Long distance connections are kind of funny. The thing about them is that you may think it’s all mysterious and fun because you have no real commitment. But after the days of email and phone conversations persist, you kind of start realizing you aren’t really playing “house” anymore and you have to decide the next action.

I bring this up only because in my journey back into the dating world, online has become a reluctant outlet. Thing is, I opened it up to ALL locations. Eh. I was bored. What can I say? OK, I was curious. One of the frustrations to online dating is that you have to trust certain things you wouldn’t necessarily trust in person — i.e. the photos. Oy, and the photos I’ve seen…

If you haven't seen the video of my experience at Garland High School's Second Chance Prom, watch it now. Me and Marie, Eden's Gardener, had a blast. She even wore a REAL prom dress. She never got to go to her own prom so this "second chance" was really her first! And I kind of got carried away dancing to "Brick House." Good times...

Well prom will be here before you know it, so please share all of your fun or funny prom memories on neighborsgo.com and don't forget to update us on upcoming prom information too.
