You can channel surf all you want ... American Idol isn't on. And it's no fun going through the DVR to check what you've recorded. So let's turn our Idol obsession to the Internet and see what's going on before Tuesday's show.

Ryan Seacrest announced he had bad news for Rockwall's Jason Castro, but the news turned out to be that Castro would have to hang around for more chats with the Idol host, since this talented blue-eyed music man with dreadlocks and a guitar will remain in the competition as one of the top 8 male performers.

The news wasn't so good for Jason Yeager of Grand Prairie, who had to say goodbye to the Idol stage.

Castro has the solid support his family, friends, church, and neighborsgo community - and he's captured the hearts of music lovers across the country. Keep on GO-ing to the top, Jason!

Two things about tonight's show:

1. Billy Pilgrim, the protagonist of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, was also "unstuck in time" - traveling between WWII Dresden and a faraway planet with a strange-sounding name.

2. I actually was at Oxford Univeristy in 1986. I don't recall seeing Faraday or Hume, but I do remember three literary titans who dominated all the lectures: Dickens, Joyce and Orwell.

I learned what quarterlife means last night while watching a new and very innovative show on NBC. What I learned is that quarterlife is the stage in life where young people hit "about" 25 years old. With this definition, I'm steaming headlong into half-life. We'll save that for another day.

I watched the television premier because one of the stars is from Flower Mound. He's the up and coming Scott Michael Foster. His dad, Michael, is a regular neighborsgo.com contributor for Studio B. I tried to take a photo of Scott while he was on the screen, but my camera battery was running low. I'm posting it anyway. Scott is on the far right.

Congratulations to Scott (and the rest of the cast) for a job well done.

It wasn't the easiest night for American Idol contestants from North Texas named Jason. Jason Castro of Rockwall strummed a guitar and sang "I Just Want to Be Your Everything." Jason Yeager of Grand Prairie belted out "Long Train Runnin." It wasn't their best work, and the judges responded, accusing them of performing karaoke.

Survey: Which judge got it right?

Well, it's that time of the week again. Time for three straight nights of Idol craziness.

Local musician Jason Castro will be performing tonight on the hit Fox show at 7 p.m. If you can't wait to see him til then, though, check out some performances and interviews we caught in 2007 here and here.

You can also see what some of his friends and fans think of Jason's newfound stardom here and here.

It was only a matter of time until Lost and the Vast Active Living Intelligence System crossed paths. "The universe IS information" ... Horselover Fat ... "the empire never ended." Of course, we have to forget to remember before we can truly learn who we are and why we're here!

"The only thing I can compare it to is Lost," I told my wife last fall. If hindsight really could be 20/20, I would've added "Philip K. Dick WAS the Dharma Initiative!"

If you are one of those people who didn't have the chance to watch last night's episode, close your eyes so you won't see what happened......

Did anybody see Mythbusters last night? That mini gun scene with Tory was freaking awesome.

I know SNL has had its ups and downs. But, that doesn't mean I don't still hold out hope of catching a great episode. It looks like that might happen Feb. 23. Tina Fey's hosting the first comeback show. I predict a Fallon-Fey reunion on Weekend Update. As much as I've appreciated other update desk anchors, they were my favorites, and it's not just because Jimmy Fallon, my TV boyfriend, was her other half. I miss the pencil-throwing and fun awkwardness, sure. But, I also miss how they played off each other. It just worked. So, here's hoping.  :)
