Ask any third grader in Plano ISD and they can tell you all about the history of Plano. Why you ask? Because as part of the TEKS (the skills that get you to TAKS) you learn all about Change and Continuity. They visit the farm to experience innovation on the farm, family life and values, and life on the Blackland Prairie. Students tour the farm and most of its buildings. They visit the Blacksmith, learn about what foods were grown and why, and get to feed the chickens. As they tour they will learn about the chores children their age did before heading off to school and after they returned. They learn how early Texans managed to stay out of the heat in the summer and view innovations such as the changes in the iron. Do you know what a Transom window is and what it is used for?
