Drag me to hell has a run time of 99 minutes. That's 99 minutes of my life which I will never get back again!

Drag me to hell is the stupidest movie, by far, of any movie I've seen this year! The movie had so much potential...director Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Darkman, & Evil Dead), a great premise (an old gypsy woman's curse on a bank worker) and an Omen sound alike movie soundtrack which had me hiding my eyes behind my rib basket at The Studio Movie Grill! At some point it all went downhill. Scary turned into silly and my screams of horror turned into screams of laughter.

If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the best part. An old woman comes into the bank and begs a young female loan officer for an extension on her home loan. When the young woman turns down the old woman's request, mainly to gain favor with her boss, the old woman attacks her and puts a curse on her which will condemn her to hell in the next three days. From that point on the movie "goes to hell" with a bunch of silly sight gags (a talking goat, over the top gushing of body fluids...) and nonsense which destroyed the scary suspense at the early part of the movie.

Sam Raimi's Drag me to hell is just a drag.

My Life in Ruins hits theaters June 5, and I had a chance to chat with SNL funny lady Rachel Dratch to talk about her role and about comedy in general. The film is set in Greece where a travel guide has to deal with a rag tag group of tourists. Dratch plays "Kim", an overly obnoxious American tourist. This light hearted comedy also stars Richard Dryfus and Nia Vardalos. The following is that interview and you can hear it as well at http://www.mungleshow.com/mlir_rd.mp3

(Rated PG for mild language; 105 minutes)

All sequels follow a 15-minute formula, and it goes something like this:

In the first five minutes, the main character appears and his/her current situation is explained. If he/she was up at the end of the last film, you can bet they'll be down in this one ... and vice versa.

In the second five minutes, secondary characters from the previous film appear, and the perfunctory plot of the next adventure - the one you're about to see - is explained.

The next five minutes focus on "movie magic" - the improbable set of circumstances that land all the protagonists from the previous film in a new locale with some memorable, quirky characters that the executive producers hope will be able to make cameos in the third installment.

Night At The Museum 2 follows the formula to a T. But guess what? It still works as a fun summer movie because of some great comedic performances and a quirky sense of humor.

At times the optimism of Hollywood is very admirable. When you create something as horrible (and that is not a strong enough word) as 2006’s The Da Vinci Code, climb under a rock due to the laughter and ridicule, and then turn around 3 years later and release the sequel, well, that has to take some gumption for sure. Either that or you pray that today’s “in the moment audience” will have forgotten how utterly ridiculous the past failure was. Attention Hollywood: I did not forget. That dismal Da Vinci is etched into my mind as 2 and a half hours of my life I will never get back. Bitter? A little. So it only makes sense that I walked into Angels & Demons with a little reserve and a whole lot of animosity. This was director Ron Howards chance to make up for the last 8 or so years of mediocrity and do something worthy of his name. Time for Opie to step it up.

As we move into the new millennium have you noticed how close the future is to today? Terminator Salvation in set in 2018...that's just nine years away. Ok, I am really paying attention to this Skynet stuff.

With Terminator Salvation McG takes over the helm from director James Cameron. Cameron is famous for epics like Titanic, The Abyss and Aliens. McG directed the Charlie's Angels movies and music videos from artists like Cypress Hill and Korn. There is a major difference in styles between the two directors. This is a hard rockin' Terminator movie.

In Terminator Salvation John Connor (Christian Bale) is the leader of the resistance as they fight for survival against the machines. Connor, who is guided by the taped messages his mother (Sara Connor) left him from the past, must decide if a stranger is an ally or the enemy when he offers his help infiltrateing Skynet. So Connor must protect the future with his actions in the present as he is guided by the wisdom of the past. (And you thought you had a high stress job.)

Terminator Salvation is easily the biggest (and loudest) sci-fi blockbuster of the summer. There's plenty of action and really cool special effects. McG introduces some new robots into the mix which look more like Transformers than Terminators and also drops in a few clever sight gags and funny lines which pay homage to the Cameron directed Terminator movies. But trust me it all fits in nicely into one action packed package.

Terminator Salvation is rated PG-13 for some pretty intense violence and runs 115 minutes.

Movie Review-Angels and Demons

I've finally figured something out about advanced movie screenings. Now this is just my opinion and it's very unscientific; however, I've figured out the percentages on movies being a hit based on the day the movie company previews the movie. For example, if the movie company advance screens a movie on a Monday or Tuesday night, I'd give it a 75% chance or better of being a hit. A Wednesday night screening is about a 50/50 shot and Thursday screenings are almost always a longshot  to be a big hit (20%). Angels and Demons was screened on a Wednesday night (50%).

Angels and Demons could be called "The Davinci Code Light". It's not as controversial as the first movie. (The Catholic Church hasn't condemned this one.) Everything about it is just a little less intense than the original movie. However, it still features Tom Hanks as symbologist Robert Langdon chasing down 400 year old symbols in an effort to save the Vatican from destruction by an ancient organization called "The Illuminati". He also has another sexy co-star, Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, who plays a super hot Italian scientist.

Angels and Demons is a very enjoyable mystery. A papal whodunit that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's rated PG-13 for some disturbing images and violence and it runs a bit long at two hours and seventeen minutes. I enjoyed it and I give it about a 50% chance of being a hit.

My wife and son are on a field trip to San Antonio. They're on the Alamo tour right now. She just sent me this text:

Omg! Just found out...no basement at the Alamo! Omg! Omg! Omg!

Yes, my wife and son are Pee Wee Herman fans. That's one reason I love them.

Comedian and actor Aziz Ansari is stirring up some commotion on the interwebs with his outrage at fake IMAX theaters. He’s absolutely right, though. I’ve felt equally taken advantage of by several fake IMAX theaters here in Dallas. They have the IMAX name but are not actually IMAX size. (more)

An interesting article over at Telegraph.co.uk lists the most misquoted film phrases. Have you been saying any of these classic quotes incorrectly? What are some of your favorite lines from movies?

A nice dinner and an eyeful of hugh jackman for Mothers Day were all i wanted this year, and i got it! A quiet dinner at PF Changs with my 5 year old and then meeting up with the boys and hubby at Northpark for the new Wolverine movie. OK, I know it's not appropriate for a 5 year old girl, but she was exhaustred and my plan to put her to sleep in the dark theatre worked like a charm, she was out during the previews!

I cannot understand the bad reviews! this movie was everything I expected, Hugh Jackman in his best role-Indestructible butt kicking hottie, shirtless most of the movie. I loved it and so did my guys. We left with a desire to watch the first X-men movie all over agin. And I would really like to see each x-men character have their own movie, How about STORM, next?
