I hope everyone made it through the storm OK. Anyone without power?

I can't report anything beyond a brief power outage in South Lewisville. How's your commute? If you're about to head out or just got in to work, go to Crosstown Traffic for updates and to let everyone know about problem spots.

Did it hail in Mansfield in southern Tarrant County! That's not an interrogative sentence, but a declarative statement. It did hail in Mansfield. It created what I like to call hail bergs that could have sunk the Titanic, or at least a very small one. I took photos and even helped a kid in flip-flops get hypothermia of the toes while pushing his car out of the hail bergs in front of the Home Depot.

And check out the video by one contributor who walked into the hailstorm.

The photos are here, here, here and here.

Call me crazy but yesterday on my drive to work through Valley Ranch I thought the area was just pruning trees; I had no idea there had been a huge storm. (more)

Many power lines are down in Carrollton, and the city has closed off some portions of roadways while repairs are made. According to a recent release from city marketing specialist Karah Hosek, the closed or partially closed streets are:

Mine was the only house on the street with any visible damage, but that changed when I attempted to leave my house. Traveling north on Preston, I witnessed a fallen light post as well as several trees overturned. As I headed west on FM544, I was forced to turn onto Plano Parkway. Thinking I would just head west on Hebron until I hit I-35, I ran into another problem: Hebron was completely shut down at Old Denton Road. Needless to say, it took me a lot longer than usual to complete my drive to Lewisville today. Hopefully when I get home, if in a timely manner, the electricity will be back on. (I apologize to my co-workers, as I did not get to straighten my hair or wake up with a cup of coffee this morning. In addition, I did my makeup by candle- and flashlight. Now that's talent! Cool)

Was it just me, or did it seem that the storm-warning sirens went off a few minutes after the worst of Wednesday night's storm was past Frisco?

Also, what exactly was the message that was broadcast? Was it "seek a safe place" or "the danger has passed"? (For all I know, it could've been "Attention members of the Red Star Federation ...")
