We pick up Hurley in just 7.5 hours.
That's 7.5 hours til my life gets a lot crazier.
Here's what I'm not looking forward to: late-night and early morning bathroom trips outside, "accidents" on the floor, howling at night, leaving him alone when i have to go to work
What I can't wait for: puppy kisses, seeing my rabbit Paco's reaction when they meet, his little face when i get home from work, having a pet that actually likes to cuddle/be petted (paco hates it!)
A little recap for you new readers: Jeff and I have been wanting a dog for so long. We finally moved into our new place in Valley Ranch, and we decided it was the perfect time. We began looking online and at adoptions for puppies. Fairly quickly I found a family in Arlington whose dogs just had puppies. They were looking for families to adopt them. So, Jeff and I trekked it out to Arlington (it's a ways!) and met the pups -- there were eight of them, all miniature yorkie/beagle mixes. We played with them a bit, and really, we couldn't tell one from the other.
Then, we saw the chunky one. The only one recognizably different than the others. Although he was still tiny, he a bit more of a gut and much longer ears. We fell in love with him. So we claimed him and were told to come back in two weeks, when they were old enough to be away from their mother (6 weeks old).
When we got home, we discussed a few names we both really liked for him. We posted the choices online (on neighborsgo, facebook, myspace, etc), and Hurley won by a landslide. I'm glad, too. It's very fitting. If you've ever seen the ABC show "Lost," you'll know that Hurley is the lovable, sensitive and overweight character. He the comedic relief of nearly every episode.
Anyway, that brings us up to date. Today he turns 6 weeks, and we're picking him up after work.
Expect an update on Day 1 with Hurley tomorrow!
