History center to offer free admission Sept. 26

Addie Brooks experiences what life was like for pioneers in the hands-on gallery of the NorthTexasHistoryCenter’s Pioneer Roots exhibit, which spotlights the lives of area pioneers that migrated to Texas pre-Civil War, post-Civil War and circa 1910.

The exhibit will be featured on Museum Day, when free admission is available to those with a special admission card.

Jackie Wright's acrylic painting demo

The Art Club of McKinney hosted Jackie Wright for an acrylic painting demo during its monthly meeting in August. The club is one of many art experiences and venues in the community, in addition to this weekend’s Second Saturday Art Walk.

The local chapter of Project Linus, a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides blankets for critically ill and traumatized children, hosted the event.
