Cole and his team traveled to Millville, New Jersey this past weekend to compete in the Championship Karting International Grand Prix of New Jersey held at the F1 Karting Facility. The 1 mile track saw the teammates of Cole and Devlin DeFrancesco begin to move up the lap time sheet pretty quickly. The team was testing a Top Kart Chassis as well as Position One Engines which proved to get the youngest duo in the field very competitive. In the draft, both boys were turning lap times that could put them in the lead draft pack and a chance for a top 5 finish in the National Race. By the third heat on Saturday, they finished 5th and 6th respectively and were poised to have a great pre final and final on Sunday. However, bad luck struck as neither driver took the green flag on Sunday due to mechanical issues in the parade laps. Look for this young duo to begin moving up the leader boards in the races to come. They will reconvene in July with four other teammates in the Rotax Shootout held in Norman, Oklahoma where the Alonso Kart USA / DeFrancesco Racing team will try and put the Alonso Karts on podiums in multiple classes.
A special thanks to DeFrancesco Racing / Alonso Kart USA for the chassis and team support (Andy DeFrancesco, Bobby Wilson, and Ben Cruttenden) as well as support at the past event from Grand Products and Position One Race Engines.
