Providence Christian School Football Team Plays The Truth in Homecoming Game

0 Ratings / 0 Comments

On October 8, Providence Christian School’s Patriot football team played The Truth football team during the School’s homecoming. In addition to the football game, Providence’s homecoming included a hamburger dinner, face painting by Class Five girls, and plenty of students showing their school spirit.

Coached by former NFL football player Le’Shai Maston, the Providence Patriots played their toughest game of the season against The Truth, coached by another former NFL star and Dallas Cowboy, Deion Sanders.  Coincidentally, Coach Maston’s son plays on The Truth. Providence’s Grant Troutt scored the team’s two touchdowns to put points on the board.  However, after four hard-fought quarters, The Truth beat the Patriots, 58-14.

Coach Maston, who also works at the School during carpool, serves as a senior corporal with the Dallas Police Department, where he has worked for more than 10 years.

He said, “Although this was a tough game, I know that our players will remember that they played hard against one of the top-ranked teams in the area.  Plus, football instills and shapes positive character traits such as discipline, teamwork, and integrity, and these are important lessons for them to learn whether they win or lose.”
