Oh, the places we go!
On Tuesday, St. Pius X teachers and students helped celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the 50th anniversary of “Green Eggs and Ham.” From Miss Bonkers to Cindy Lou, teachers dressed up as their favorite character. It was a real adventure to see our teachers bring Dr. Seuss characters to life.
Our second graders all brought in hats to wear while they read “Go, Dog Go.” Mrs. McKissick, our third grade teacher, surprised the students by wearing a different hat every hour. Fourth grade students are still calling their teachers Thing One and Thing Two! Horton the Who and Cindy Lou greeted all incoming visitors at the school office.
Many classes read Dr. Seuss stories throughout the day and participated in DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)!
The highlight of the day was the green eggs and ham served at lunch! Students laughed and squealed while enjoying not only green eggs and ham, but green applesauce as well. The cafeteria called it a big success, even bigger than the all-time lunch favorite, chicken nuggets.
“Oh things that we do,” said Horton the Who. St. Pius X School is where books come alive!
