            <title>Senior Center Pearl Harbor Breakfast</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><span>The Lewisville Senior Center will host its annual Pearl Harbor Breakfast on December 7th at 9am.  This will be the last day to view to &quot;Wall of Veteran's&quot; display at the Senior Center.  The display has pictures of themselves, family members and friends who have or currently serving in the armed services.  Cost is $2 for the breakfast and is sponsored by Ardent Hospice.</span></p>

            <title>Parish student receives National Fundraising honor</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><span>Parish Episcopal sophomore Matt Willis received the Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award at the 24th Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon to Honor Top Dallas Area Philanthropists and Fundraisers. The event was held at the 2009 National Philanthropy Day Awards at the Hyatt Regency.<br /><br />Willis received this prestigious national award after raising $71,000 through a golf tournament to remember his father Jim, who lost his battle with cancer 45 days after the inaugural tournament and Matthew was only 2-years-old.</span></p>
<p><span> </span><span>“This tournament has given me a wonderful opportunity to connect with my father, whom I can only remember through pictures and stories shared by my family and friends,” Willis said.<span>  </span>“Through ‘Links Fore Leukemia,’ I can continue my dad’s dream of helping others who may be diagnosed with blood cancer, and I can also honor his memory.”</span> </p>
<p><span>Willis is currently heading up the newest addition to the ‘Links Fore Leukemia’ Tournament, serving as the president of the junior golf committee, currently in its first year.<span>  He also recently met with PGA golfer Phil Mickelson to get support and auction items for the event. </span></span></p>
<p><span>“I’m excited about this new committee and involving more youth in this important cause,” added Willis.<span>   </span>“The junior golf committee will serve as a wonderful way to recruit new supporters who will hopefully stay involved for many years to come.”</span> </p>
<p><span>Willis has also been honored by the LLS Society with the Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award, an award that honors a youth with courage, integrity, dignity and dauntless spirit, who has battled blood cancer through personal experience or who has volunteered extensively on behalf of others who suffer from blood cancer.<span> </span></span></p>
<p><span><span> </span>Additionally he has been honored by Representative Linda Harper Brown at the Capitol before the Texas House of Representatives and by Kohl’s Department Stores as a “Kids Who Care” Store level winner.<span>  </span></span></p>
<p><span><span></span></span><span>In addition to Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, six other awards were presented to those in the community who exemplify commitment, dedication, and talent toward helping their neighbors.<span>  </span>Additional winners are <b>Mary and Mike Terry<span>  </span></b>for Outstanding Philanthropist(s); <b>Mayor Laura Wheat</b>, Town of Westlake, for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser;<b> Embrey Family Foundation </b>for Outstanding Foundation; <b>Dean Foods</b> for Outstanding Corporation; <b>JoLynne Jensen, CFRE,</b> for Outstanding Fundraising Executive; and <b>CREW Dallas (Commercial Real Estate Women) </b>for Outstanding Philanthropic Organization.</span> </p>
<p><span>“The Greater Dallas Chapter of The Association of Fundraising Professionals is proud to present and pay tribute to these outstanding individuals who have exhibited such incredible civic and charitable stewardship,” said Cheryl Reynolds, National Philanthropy Day Chair.<span>  </span>“Without question, such philanthropic efforts play a critical role in our society, providing much needed funds every year, encouraging civic participation, and improving the quality of life for all people.<span>  </span>These seven award recipients are an inspiration to so many in the community and beyond.”</span> </p>]]></description>

            <title>Senior Center Holiday Luncheon set for December 15th</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">The City of Lewisville Senior Activity Center is hosting its annual Holiday Luncheon on Tuesday December 15th at 11:30am.  This event is free to attend for anyone 50 and older.  We do ask that you bring an unwrapped toy (toys given to PediPlace) and a potluck dessert, salad or dish.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">The luncheon has been moved from the Senior Center to Memorial Park Recreation Center Gymnasium due to its popularity.  The turkey and ham will be provided by Providence Village of Denton.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">The event will feature a musical performance by New Horizons Band.  Followed by a visit from Santa and picture opportunities.  </span></p>

            <title>Off Broadway: Parish performs at Notre Dame</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><span>Parish Episcopal took its show of &quot;Guys and Dolls&quot; on the road to perform for the Notre Dame School near downtown Dallas.</span></p>
<p><span>Parish's cast did several scenes from the Tony Award winning play. Parish students from middle school through seniors put on four daily productions of the  challenging show in early November.</span></p>
<p><span>The reprisal was greeted with enthusiasm by the Notre Dame students in their auditorium just before the Thanksgiving break. Notre Dame's private school campus for first through 12th grade is near downtown Dallas.</span></p>]]></description>
