American Heroes Veteran's Day Event
“American Heroes” Festival Honors Veterans
The City of The Colony and American Legion Post 21 have announced details of the 2nd annual American Heroes festival, to be held in The Colony on Saturday, November 7, 2009. This event is dedicated to all the men and women who have served their country in the armed forces.
Activities for the event include a 5K, 10K and 1 mile fun run, Car, Bike and Truck show, family entertainment, great food, live music, silent auction, patriotic Veteran’s ceremonies and an incredible fireworks extravaganza. New this year, a canned good or non-perishable food item donation, or $1/person, is the admission for the festival. All donations are going to local food banks as part of Food 4 Families: The Colony Community Food Drive.

Allen Recycles Day
Each November, Americans are encouraged to reduce their waste and increase recycling to create a cleaner, greener place to live, work, and play. DFW Walk for LUNGevity
The DFW Walk for LUNGevity will kick off in Arlington at River Legacy Park at 10am on November 7, 2009. Event proceeds will benefit the LUNGevity Foundation, the nation’s leading private supporter of lung cancer research.
Although lung cancer is the number one cancer killer – more than breast, colorectal, and prostate cancer combined – it receives a small fraction of research funding as compared to other cancers. Best of Broadway II
The University of Texas at Dallas presents Best of Broadway II, a concert filled with choral and musical numbers from Broadway shows. The concerts will take place in the University Theatre on Fri., Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. with additional shows on Sat., Nov. 7, at 2 and 8 p.m. Admission is free, with a $5 donation suggested. All proceeds will go to the Arts and Humanities Scholarship Fund.
