At the July 31st Lions Club Meeting, Lion Maggie Willis, Director of Health services, GISD, introduced Keith Reimer, an inspirational speaker, and the Program Specialist, Division of Student Services and Community Relations, at GISD. Garland is a large district and currently has 58,000+ students in school, and 7,200+ employees.
Keith spoke on motivating students, and showed that a college degreed personâs lifetime earnings on average are about one million dollars more than one with lesser education. He described the extreme differences between todayâs school environment and that of only 50 years ago.
Today, in achievement, image is 85% of success: âwho you are and how you present yourselfâ makes the difference.
Keith had been involved in getting the GISD Special Events Center, which opened in 2005. It is the site of some 27 school graduation ceremonies and up to 300 banquets per year.
The GISD scholarships fund-raising Christmas Show is to be December 13th, and Golf Tournament April 20th.
