Vacation!! - August 19, 2008 - 06:23 PM
After being stuck in Dallas heatwave most of the summer, working on the Armstrong auction, ONE of my big Fall events, my family finally got to get away. We drove my brand new navigator to Taos New Mexico, putting some serious miles on it. In Taos, my husband took an interesting class at SMU there and was allowed to take the family on two "field Trips". the first he took the 2 boys only, they went to Ghost Valley Ranch and visited the oldest dinosaur fossils. The second include us girls, too. The 5 year old and I hiked 2 1/2 miles up and down the mountain to Wheeler Lake and we all ate turkey sandwiches I had packed, by the waterfall. It was quite breathtaking-literally-the thin air can easily make me hyperventilate (happened in Aspen)and freaks me out, but I maintained control of my breathing and by the time we got to the top had become accustomed to it. going down was much easier and gigi didn't ride on her Dad's shoulders, like she did most of the way UP. the weather was fabulous and we were happy to be out of the 107 degree temps here at home. when hubby called to brag to Dad, Dad did admit it was 105 that day but with one of his witty come backs informed him that "it's always 71 degrees in my office". So, back for a few days and off to watch hubby play polo in St. Louis area for next two weekends. My family is from there so will get to see them and have a true vacation. I never cooked and cleaned and did so much laundry in my life as I did in the "Spirit House" we rented! Oh, and we're leaving the kids home with the nanny...now THAT'S a vacation!
