Community Involvement - August 12, 2009 - 05:53 PM
Kiddo Comforts, a charitable organization based in the Dallas area whose mission is to provide relief to children in distress, is asking for help from the community to provide clothing to 950 refugee children for attending school. Many of the children, often of elementary and middle school age, belong to families who have come to the United States after serving as translators and/or interpreters for U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq. These kiddos are in need of general clothing items like underwear, school uniforms, socks, and shoes. “These children are refugees who have been brought to the United States and provided one shirt and one pair of pants,” said Kiddo Comforts founder. “Some have one pair of shoes, and little or no underwear or socks. Our purpose is to provide a complete outfit of clothing for each of these children which can be accomplished for only $48 per child,” said Kiddo Comforts founder. “These children are unbelievable. They are happy and grateful for what little they have and absolutely cherish the opportunity to live in our country. This is a real opportunity for us to provide directly to those in the greatest of need in our community.” To help outfit these kiddos for school, donations in increments of $48 are appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible and should be mailed to Kiddo Comforts, P.O. Box 940990, Plano, TX 75094. For more information, e-mail kiddocomforts@gmail.com.
