About Me
My Interests:
Me in My Words: In the interest of full disclosure, I work for the City of Dallas. I think we have the best professional management team and workforce of any urban city in the nation, and if people understood just how much their workforce does for them, they wouldn't be so quick to be negative about their City.
Interests: Dallas streets, Dallas arts and culture, Dallas libraries, Dallas neighborhoods, Dallas firefighters and cops, Dallas health workers and animal officers, Dallas economic development team, basically all-things related to the City of Dallas.
Favorite Sports Teams: DALLAS Mavericks, DALLAS Stars, Irving/Arlington/DALLAS Cowboys, DALLAS City Council (okay, they're not chasing a ball, but they are a pretty darned good team!)
Interesting things for other users to know: I love Dallas. More specificially, I love the City of Dallas. For every negative story about the City, I've got 10 positive ones. But then again, that's my job.

Where are the city leaders? - July 25, 2007 - 11:38 AM
It's now 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, following the explosions near downtown Dallas nearly 2 hours ago. I have yet to see or hear anyone from the city of Dallas (the mayor, the fire chief, the police chief, etc.) address this incident on the air. As a former official with the city of Houston, I can tell you that by now the mayor - along with the fire chief, the police chief and other officials - would have been on the air in some capacity to address the public's concerns. Where is newly-elected mayor Tom Leppert? I know that the city of Dallas has recently implemented an emergency operations center and I'm sure city officials are busy there. But to not have any city officials 'on the air', at this stage, to calm citizens' fears about what has happened is inexcusable. Edit: at 12:00 p.m., officials with the city of Dallas are finally addressing the situation with an 'on site' news briefing.
