photography ideas.... - July 16, 2007 - 03:39 PM
i'm really into the natural photo. i don't really dig doing photo shoots in studios or anything. to me they can seem sterile. to each is own though. i like to ask the subject their hobbies and taylor the shoot around their comfort zones. i try to make them laugh when possible without overdoing it. you have to just have a feel for what will make the subject comfy but still push the limits of their comfort zone in a seamless way in order to gain variety in the shots.

Its really not about the class its about you and your subject. Just practice moving your subject and talking to them making them comf. as well as getting a good photo. I took some classes in school but to be honest with you practice makes almost perfect. Working with plus size can be a little harder, you want to focus on the eyes and smile, and moving them to posisions that wont make them look larger. The eyes are everything in a photo to me, so start with headshots first then work your way to the full body. Let me know If I can be of help. Its slow right now, ya know tx. weather! LOL Andrea

"Sheera", I am always networking but I also love making new friends and sharing ideas. I would really like to see your work in person some time. Do you have some displayed right now? One of my artists work will be at Cedars Art Gallery. Friday, June 29, 2007 from 6 - 9 p.m. They are located at 1114 S. Akard St. in Dallas just south of I-30. I am going to be there to show my support.

That is so cool that you call yourself Sheera after the cartoon character. I'd be Jem, because I'm truly outrageous. If you could have someone watch your kiddos for a week, you could stay in Vegas and it really wouldn't be too expensive. Rooms in neat hotels like the Luxor and the Excalibur are seriously like $50,$60 during the week. If you eat in the "regular" restaurants (not Wolfgang Puck and such), they are the same price as Dallas restaurants. If you go I will tell you all the places to hit up!

I did some schooling, the in studio work, and then started freelance on my own. And its really not what you learn in school, its about how you are with the people, they have to be comfortable, and then the camera is secondary to that, but it is alot of fun DFW has alot of great photographers, if you ever needs some photos let me know, and i can show you some stuff, I'm still builing my porfolio, that never stops! LOL
