ROCKWALL ISD STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN FT WORTH LIVESTOCK SHOW
Rockwall ISD students competed in the 2008 Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth January 18-26. This year, the Stock Show’s Junior Division played host to more than 10,000 entries by Texas 4-H and FFA youth as the culmination of yearlong agricultural educational projects in various areas of livestock production. The stock show provides educational opportunities for young people, and showcases the livestock industry in the growing metroplex. Casey Jones, RHS Agriculture teacher said “Livestock competition enables a student to learn about agriculture production in addition to teaching responsibility and instilling pride for a job well done.”
This marks the 112th year for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the nation’s oldest livestock show. Sam Evans commented “I liked everything about the Ft Worth Livestock Show – showing my pig, feeding her at midnight, bathing her and especially showing her in the rink.”
Rockwall students competing included:
Commercial Breeding Gilt Show – Will Morris, Sam Evans, Michael Brezik
Market Wether Goats – Samantha Giovannangelo These students and many other Rockwall students will be competing in the Rockwall Youth Fair on April 5 at the RISDAgriculturalCenter on Riding Club Road.
FFA sponsors are Bobby Fowler and Casey Jones and the 4-H Advisor is Todd Williams.
