SHINE YOUR SPURS AND GET YOUR LASSO'S READY:DALLAS BLOOMS 2008 - THE STAR OF TEXASWILL BE ARRIVING AT THE DALLAS ARBORETUMMARCH 8 - APRIL 13, 2008            DALLAS, TX - The 24th Annual Dallas Blooms, presented by Chase, opens March 8th and runs through April 13th.  The 2008 festival theme is The Star of Texas, and the best things about our great state, besides the incredible beauty of the Dallas Arboretum, will be highlighted throughout the festival.  This will include music, food, celebrities, poetry, and our rich history.  The centerpiece of Dallas Blooms: The Star of Texas will include a giant flower-filled star and other Texas theme-inspired topiaries that will fill the garden. Dallas Blooms 2008 will feature more than 400,000 spring-blooming bulbs, 3,500 azaleas and another 200,000 annuals and perennials spread through the 66-acre garden.  The 2008 festival is a fun-filled, five-week, six-weekend event and is the largest outdoor floral festival in the Southwest!    Southern Artisans Market is the Dallas Arboretum's first spring arts and crafts fair.  This two day event kicks off our premier, highly attended festival, Dallas Blooms: The Star of Texas, and will feature artisans, delicious cuisine and entertainment of the south.  The Market will run the weekend of March 8-9.  Popular themed activities that are in planning include trick roping, hay rides, Armadillo races and country and western entertainment with an old fashioned square dance.

Favorite activities will return as well, including Mommy & Me Mondays and Tiny Tots Tuesdays.  Additional festival and entertainment details will be available just after New Year.  The Hoffman Family Gift Shop will also be featuring Texas themed products, Texas made products and Texas grown products in celebration of the festival.              Dallas' most popular Spring tea services will be served in the DeGolyer Garden Cafe throughout the festival.                 Cultivate your mind and nurture your spirit with exciting classes set in Dallas' most beautiful classroom. The adult education programs, sponsored by Calloway's Nursery, offer classes on a variety of topics including landscape design, Texas Tough Perennials, growing orchids, watercolor painting, floral arranging and the 5th annual Lone Star Greats program. All classes in the spring semester assume one of the three basic styles: demonstration, lecture or hands-on. Many courses combine styles to maximize learning and enjoyment. Spend a morning or spend a full day growing your mind in the garden. Join us and let us bring nature to life for you!
