ART AND NATURE JOIN FORCES:   PRESENTS THE SOUTHERN ARTISANS MARKET AT THE DALLAS ARBORETUM

     DALLAS, TX --- The Dallas Arboretum becomes a work of art on the weekend of March 8th & 9th when   presents the Southern Artisans Market, a show and sale in the garden. It is the Dallas Arboretum’s first spring arts and craft fair set amid one of the most beautiful floral display gardens in North America. Over 40 artisans from southern states will gather in this first-time event to display and sell their handmade and unique art.  Some of the show pieces include: handmade rocking chairs, jewelry, soaps, ceramics, and many more.


     Well-known Texas native artist Erika Bell is one of the artists whose work will be included in the Southern Artisans Market.  Ms. Bell is best know for taking recycled pieces of slate and stone as well as other of various snippets to create mosaic platispheres, crosses, and extraordinary tile designs. She has received awards for many of her masterpieces including Best of Show at the Boston Mills Artfest and Best of Show at the Dallas Artfest.


     “The Dallas Arboretum is very excited that we are able to spotlight talented, southern artists and give our visitors the opportunity to see and purchase their art in such a beautiful venue,” said Maria Conroy, Vice President of Education.

     This show and sale in the garden takes place opening weekend of Dallas Blooms, the largest outdoor floral festival in the southwest. This year’s theme is ‘”The Star of Texas” with events including the Tales of Texas display, Trick Roper, Live Golden Cowboy Statue, a variety of Musical Entertainment, and much more!
     

     Southern Artisans Market will be held at the Arboretum from 9am-5pm on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9. Southern Artisans Market is free with general Arboretum admission: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older, $5 for children 3-12, and free for Arboretum members and children 2 and under. On-site parking is $5.

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is located on the southeastern shore of White Rock at 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, TX, 75218.  The Arboretum is open daily from 9am until 5pm.  General Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older, $5 for children 3-12, and free for Arboretum members and children two and under.  On-site parking is $5.  The Arboretum is wheelchair accessible and tram service is available for the mobility impaired.  Group discounts are available with advance registration.  For more information and other events, call (214) 515-6500 or visit the Arboretum’s website at www.dallasarboretum.org.
