Ford's Cruise 4 UR School Event Raises $6,000 for Newman Smith H.S.

0 Ratings / 0 Comments

The recent Cruise 4 UR School fundraiser sponsored by Ford and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford here in Carrollton raised $6,000 for Newman Smith High School’s Science/Engineering Pathways Program. The one-day event invited people to test drive an assortment of 2008 Ford productsand for every individual who participated, Ford and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford donated $20 to Newman Smith High School.

“We are thrilled by the participation of the local community that turned out to support this event. The school was able to raise the funds needed to send students on an educational field trip. We got the chance to show off our great 2008 cars and trucks to more than 300 people and, in turn, improved their opinion of Ford vehicles.  This was a win-win event for everyone involved,” said Brian Huth, General Manager of Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton.

By participating in this event, Newman Smith High School has been entered into a sales competition.  There will be an additional 1st, 2nd and 3rd place donation* ($15,000, $10,000 and $5,000) made to those high schools that generate the most new Ford Division sales!

“Cruise 4 UR School is a great concept. It took something lots of people do anyway—test driving new cars—and spun into an event that will help support important programs such as the Science and Engineering Pathway,” said Lakeiah Cheatham, Assistant Principal of Newman Smith High School. “Thanks to this fundraiser, 14 students from this program will be able to travel to Detroit, regardless of ability to pay, to meet with and learn from professional auto engineers working for America’s auto manufacturers.”

Across the country, hundreds of Ford dealers are partnering with local high schools to host Cruise 4 UR School events, just like they did here. Ford is contributing up to $6,000—the equivalent of 300 test drives—to every participating school, each of which can use the funds to support various programs and activities as they see fit.  ###
