Award Winning Coyle Middle School Honor Band Invited to MUSIC FOR ALL in Indianapolis, IN

1 Rating / 1 Comment

The Coyle Middle School Honor Band was invited to perform at the 2008 MUSIC FOR ALL NATIONAL FESTIVAL in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 29th.  As the only middle school invited to particpate with all high school bands, orchestras, and ensembles, this was truly an honor and an incredible opportunity for these talented students.  Ms. Marcia Zoffuto, Director, also invited Coyle Band alum from Rowlett High School to participate and perform with the Honor Band.  A total of 12 RHS band students traveled with Coyle to attend this grand event.  The honor band performed 8 pieces of music that they had practiced since the fall.

Mr. Richard Clary, National Concert Festival Master Clinician who gave them their evaluation and critique comments said,  "In the 27 years I have done this, I have never been at a loss for words, however I find myself in that situation now. As you performed, I was writing down some comments, such as, "WOW", "Beautiful sound", and "Bravo!"  He also said, "I had to remind myself, this is a Middle School Band, as I am also sure the audience listening had to do."  These students are truly in a league of their own.  He said that they made it extremely difficult for him to evaluate because they didn't give him anything negative to elaborate on.  He stressed to them how lucky they were to be a part of this prestigious band and music program.  He also told them how blessed they were to have band directors and parents that supported and believed in them.  Mr. Richard Crain, the Music For All event associate that invited Coyle to perform, spoke to the kids and said, "Your performance today was outstanding, and each and every one of you truly deserve to be on that stage with the best of the best Honor Bands in the United States!"  He thanked them for blessing this year's event with their wonderful performance.

"We are so proud of our students for their hard work and dedication to their music program.  We are so incredibly blessed to have Ms. Zoffuto and Ms. Sheng Thao teaching our students and for allowing them to excel at what they do best.  These kids are truly the music ambassadors of Rowlett and the GISD.", said Vincent Barrera, Coyle Band Booster President.

Thank you to all the parents, directors, private lesson instructors, Coyle teachers, and Garland ISD Administration for your support and dedication to these talented students.
