Corbell Elementary School recently began a program called Manners Monday, where children at all grade levels are chosen for a special luncheon once a month. In January, 78 children were chosen by their teachers and treated to a special lunch complete with tablecloths, centerpieces, cloth napkins and silverware! At lunch, they were further taught great table manners that often times parents didn't know!
For example, they were taught that if a tablemate asks for the salt, they are to pass both the salt and pepper shakers. The kids already knew some of the answers, like whether it's every okay to tuck your napkin in your shirt! And Mrs. Babovec gave them great advice on what to do if a friend burps at the table or if their friend has something in their teeth.
It was so fun for all the kids to sit together with placecards and silverware at their special tables. They were all so well-mannered and looked like they really had some great information to bring home to their dinner tables!
The Manners Monday Program was created by Mrs. Holly Ulmer , Corbell Elementary Cultural Arts co-chair in partnership with Mrs. Shannon Babovec, Director of the Frisco Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions. It will be presented in March to the Frisco Independent School District. We feel that the Manners Monday program would be beneficial to all Frisco Schools and look forward to putting our program in place throughout the district.
