DALLAS (March 7, 2008)  - Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCPC) presents its second annual juried exhibition and sale of fine art, daily from Saturday, April 5, to Sunday, April 13, 2008. The show will take place at Gables Villa Rosa, 2650 Cedar Springs, Dallas. Proceeds from the show benefit WestDallasCommunitySchool after-school arts programs and
Mercy Street
.

"PCPC sees the encouragement of excellent art as a wonderful way to build community and good neighbors.  Art at its best expresses goodness, truth and beauty,” said Dr. Pete Deison, PCPC pastor and founder of the PCPC Arts Festival.  “Those are values that make a community like Uptown and Dallas great."

The theme of this year's art festival is "Beginnings."  Submitted work falls into one of four categories:

·         Beginnings of Creation (Genesis 1:1-2:3), the seven days when God creates heaven and earth

·         Beginnings of Man and Woman (Genesis 2:4-25), God's creation of man and woman with His plan and purpose for mankind

·         Temptation and Fall (Genesis 3:1-7), the origins of temptation and sin that lead to the fall of mankind

·         Judgment and Hope (Genesis 3:8-24), the consequences of sin, the separation from God, and the subsequent search for hope

"Last year's festival at PCPC drew almost 4000 visitors," said Dr. Deison. "We want these wonderful pieces to be enjoyed by even more people this year. We hope by showing this art outside of our church, we will be able to inspire an even larger audience. And we want our community to know that we support local artists as well as the organizations that benefit from the show."

"Being a part of the community has always been important to Gables Residential," said Doug Chesnut, Gables senior vice president. "And community partnerships are equally important and rewarding. Gables Villa Rosa offers a very central and high-traffic location to showcase the PCPC Art Festival. By exposing more people to these works, we hope we can promote local artists to a wider audience, thereby increasing support to two very worthy West Dallas organizations."

Almost 150 artists will show their works this year in mediums including painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.

Jurors are Patricia Meadows, curator and collection manager of the Texas Sculpture Garden; Dr. Ted Pillsbury, internationally known scholar, former Kimbell Art Museum director, chairman of Fine Arts for Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas; and Dr. Pete Deison, founder of PCPC Arts Festival, pastor, author and educator.

The theme winner in each of the four categories will receive a cash prize of $1,000. The viewers’ choice award will also receive a cash award of $1,000. Other top works will be honored.
