The “original” Tealwood Neighborhood Club held its quarterly Crime Watch meeting in February. This event, which was well-attended, gave neighbors the opportunity to hear crime-prevention tips from Mesquite Police Crime Prevention Officers, Don Williams and Cheryl Gregg.
Event organizer, Rachel Lopez, who hosts these quarterly meetings at her home, states “This is a wonderful opportunity for us to get together and obtain information on how to make our homes and neighborhoods a safer place.” Lopez explains that this meeting was significant, in that it brought out several new neighbors that are eager to get involved and help plan various future events, including a neighborhood Block Party/Picnic slated for late Spring.
“I am proud of the fact that we’re a neighborhood that communicates well with each other; if a problem has occurred or suspicious activity surfaces, we are pretty quick to get on the phone and alert our fellow neighbors,” said Lopez. The next meeting for the Tealwood Neighborhood Club will take place in conjunction with the neighborhood Block Party, as mentioned above.
