Mesquite ISD held its 1st Annual Sport Stacking Tournament on Saturday, March 8 at Kimbrough Middle School. Sport Stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in pre-determined sequence The tournament was organized by Ryan Davis, Motley Elementary physical educator and included over 130 8-12 year old students from Mesquite, Keller, Garland and home school.
"It was great to see so many students participate in a sport that is so good for them physically and intellectually," commented Susan Henderson, MISD Physical Education/Health Coordinator. Sport Stacking requires students to use both hands which requires the use of both sides of the brain and promotes right brain development which houses things like awareness, focus, creativity and rhythm.
After an exciting day of success for students of all skill levels, Davis commented, "This is why I teach".
