Well, this isn't so much a story as it is a warning. Our friend Maria had her chihuahua Duke stolen from her truck. It happened on Dec 20th, 2007 in the Wal-Mart parking lot at I-30 and Broadway in Garland.
Maria had stepped in to Wal-Mart for only a few minutes and left Duke in his carrier in the truck. From surveilance tapes it looks like another pickup truck was parked farther out waiting for someone to come along. The other truck parked in the open space next to Maria's truck. It only took moments for the door to be jimmied, and a few more minutes to remove her radio and Duke in his carrier.
Maria is heart-broken from losing Duke. I have attached her flyer to this story, and loaded it separately in my neighborsgo photos. If you know anything about the theft of Duke, then please call the number shown on Maria's flyer. Note: the thief must have known where the parking lot cameras were pointed because he never showed his face or the license plate on his truck.
Please be careful if you take your pet with you while running errands. It only took a few minutes for Maria to lose Duke. It would be terrible to lose one of our doggies; and I'm sure it would be terrible for you too.
