City of Heath Presents the 2008 Heart of Heath 5k Run/Walk on March 29

Pancake Breakfast Hosted by RHHS Class of 2009 to Follow!

 

Heath, Texas, An invigorating run, jog or walk followed by a chance to win prizes and enjoy fluffy homemade pancakes with friends and neighbors is a great way to start a brisk spring day in Heath!

 

Be sure your family is a part of the fun by registering for the 2008 Heart of Heath 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, March 29. Presented by the City of Heath Special Events Board, the run will begin at 8:30 a.m. at HeathCity Hall at 200 Laurence Drive. The family-friendly event is open to all ages and athletic abilities ranging from the casual walker to the elite runner.

 

 

The run/walk will be followed by a pancake breakfast hosted by the Rockwall-Heath High School Class of 2009.

 

“The Heart of Heath 5K Run/Walk is another hometown tradition that gives us a chance to gather as a community,” says Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe, who in 2007 finished the run in less than 22 minutes while Heath Councilman Steve McKimmey placed second with a 19:35 pace. “We invite everyone in the Lake Ray Hubbard area to come join us for a great morning filled with exercise, fun and food.”

 

A high quality 100% cotton T-shirt bearing the cool new Heart of Heath logo will be given to every participant while supplies last. All proceeds from the run will benefit the Heath Trails System that will connect all public areas, parks and neighborhoods. Proceeds from the pancake breakfast will benefit the RHHS Class of 2009.

 

Race Categories & AwardsYouth: Girls 14 and under; Boys 14 and under Women: 160 pounds and under; Athena over 160 pounds Men: 200 pounds and under; Clydesdale over 200 pounds

 

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each category. The top male and female finishers will each receive a pair of Asics running shoes. Drawings will be held after the race for wonderful door prizes donated by local merchants.

 

Registration FeesYouth: $10 advance and on the day of the race Adults: $15 by March 25 and $20 thereafter Registration forms were mailed to all Heath residents with their utility bills and monthly newsletter in February. Registration forms are also available at www.heathtx.com or HeathCity Hall, 200 Laurence Drive.

 

Early Packet Pick UpEarly packet pick up will be at HeathCity Hall on Friday, March 28 from 2 to 6 p.m.Packet pick up and registration at the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. with an 8:15 warm up.The race will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine!
