FROM ORPHAN TO GIVER

Rockwall actress Colleen Breen was cast for the role of "Lily" in the Dallas
Children's Theater production of THE GIVER, which opens March 28.
Colleen is a fourth grade student at Fulton Academy and played the lead part of
"Annie" in the Rockwall Community Playhouse production of ANNIE, JR. last
summer.  Since that time, she has busy acting in other plays, including
HONK,JR., MUSIC MAN, as well as commercial and print advertisements.

A straight A student who loves animals, music, dance, and assorted other
hobbies, 10 year old Colleen has an abundant energy for any and all
activities she seeks.  Beginning at age 2, Colleen attended weekly
theater classes, workshops, and theater camps, which has led her to a love
of acting from musicals to dramas.  Colleen tells others "the theater is
how I relax, have fun and make new friends, as well as learn all sorts of
things...I never get tired of it, no matter what part I am given."

The Newbery Classic, THE GIVER,
directed by Artie Olaisen, DCT’s Associate Artistic Director, is about a society that seems ideal.  The story is seen through the eyes of Jonas, a young boy about to receive his life's assignment along with others in his age group.  Colleen plays the role of his younger sister, Lily.  Jonas is to be trained to become the "Receive of Memory."  In this position, he will learn of all past issues
with his society, both good and bad.  Jonas is faced with the challenge
that may alienate him from his family and the Utopian society in which he
lives.  This is a very popular classic and special story suited mostly for
ages 10 and older.

Colleen Breen invites everyone to come see this challenging and
thought-provoking play at Dallas Children's Theater, which runs through
April 20.  Colleen is the daughter of Dr. Bob and Laura Breen, and is
represented by  Linda McCallister Talent.  For dates and showtimes, contact
Dallas Children's Theater at 214.740.0051, or go online to
www.dct.org.
The theater is located in the Rosewood Center at 5938 Skillman, in Dallas.
