J.J. Pearce Colorguard Shine in Spring Competitions
The J.J. Pearce High School Colorguard recently took home first place at a March 7th contest and received national recognition for a performance on the following day, March 8th. The Colorguard, directed by ReneeCantrell and DiunteWhite, received 1stplace at the LamarHSContest in Arlington. Less than 12 hours later, the students performed again at the WGI International Dallas Regional, held at South Grand Prairie High School. Because of the excessive number of units competing in this contest, 15 were chosen to perform again in a Finals Competition Saturday night. J.J.Pearce was one of the units selected and at the end of the night, received 5thplace, after an impressive performance. On March 9th, it was announced that for that competition, PearceColorguard was ranked 13th in the nation! This accomplishment is without precedence for this organization. Sponsor, ReneeCantrell said of the team, "The J.J.PearceColorguard this year has exceeded my expectations. They are a hard working, dedicated and gifted group of girls of whom I could not be prouder. They are an example of what is outstanding in today's youth." The team has additional competitions scheduled for this spring including state championship in South Grand Prairie on April 5th.
