The 51st Annual Rodeo Parade was held in downtown Mesquite on Saturday March 29.
Celebrating the annual opening of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, the Rodeo Parade is a community wide event bringing together civic clubs, churches, community groups and schools. The parade followed the traditional route starting on Belt Line at Newsom, proceeding through downtown Mesquite and ending on Galloway Avenue At New Market Road. This year, the parade returned to its traditional date marking the annual opening of the rodeo on April 3 and 4. The Grand Marshall was retired police chief Gary Westphal.
The Parade is sponsored by the Exchange Club of Mesquite, a local service club dedicated to community service, child abuse prevention and American Pride. Each year the club passes out American flags to all children attending the parade as part of the National Exchange Club GIVEAKIDAFLAGTOWAVE program. Assisting the club with the distribution of flags was staff members from the First State Bank of Mesquite. The parade is also sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, the City of Mesquite, the HAM Association of Mesquite and First State Bank.
