It has been another great competition season for the Sachse High School JV Lariat Dance Team! They have won numerous awards at the Texas Dance Classic in Rowlett and the National/International Championship in Denton. The girls competed in several styles of dance, including jazz, military, modern, novelty and pom. The team won top honors for their military entry, a fast paced high-energy routine that really looked sharp! The most fun routine to watch was when the "Spice Girls" took the stage. Lauren "Posh" Brake, Brooke "Ginger" Pollard, Sarah "Scary" Shipley, Emily "Sporty" Smith and Bailey "Baby" Trousdale really looked the part, and it was obvious the whole team was having a lot of fun on stage!
The 2007-08 officers also competed in the JV Officer category. This year's officers are Captain Lauren Brake, Sophomore Lieutenant Cera Healy and Freshman Lieutenant Emily Smith. Lauren placed with her solo entry and also placed in the Jr. High Kick competition.
Ms. Alexi Cavanagh is the director for the Lariats. This is Ms. Cavanagh's first year at Sachse High School. When asked how this year has gone she replied, "This year has been a lot of hard work, but it has been so much fun working with all the Lariats. It has been so rewarding to see how far they have come since August!"
A special thank you goes out to Ms. Cavanagh for her guidance and patience this year, and to all the parents for their love and support for our Spicy Sachse Dancers!
