The award-winning Marcus High School Color Guard will be holding a mini-camp for girls in grades 6 - 8 on Saturday, April 26, from 9:00 a.m. - noon in the Marcus High School gymnasium. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The fee for the mini-camp will be $10.00 and will include a t-shirt as well as water and snack. Participants will be involved in dance/movement clinics and will get an introduction to the basics of flag-spinning by members of the Marcus Color Guard. Entrance to the school will be through the main gym door on the south end of the school. All participants should wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and athletic or jazz shoes. Dance experience can be helpful but is not necessary for the clinic participants.
The Marcus Color Guard, under the direction of Mr. Mike Blade, is the 2008 North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) Scholastic Open Class champion. During the fall, the Marcus Color Guard performs as part of the Texas UIL 5-A State Marching Champion Marcus Band. The Marcus Color Guard has captured the hearts of audiences around the country in recent years and is proud to represent the communities of Highland Village, north Flower Mound, Copper Canyon, and Double Oak.
