Ladies Strut Their Stuff For Scholarships

0 Ratings / 0 Comments
Downed power lines, uprooted trees and mangled fences could not stop the Carrollton Women's Club members and guests from picking their way through the many road detours to attend the 21st Annual Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon. Arriving at Brookhaven Country Club mere hours after the horrific storm of Thursday morning found a lack of electricity but a "show must go on" attitude. As the club staff prepared lunch using gas, the models dressed by candlelight. Over 60 beautiful prize baskets, for example gorgeous pearls from Texas Jewelry, were on display. In the back of the room stood the impressive larger items to be raffled, including a fabulous upholstered chair and ottoman donated by The House Of Decor. The ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch while viewing fun fashions by Honey of a Deal of Old Downtown Carrollton. Event co-chairs Linda Hoffman and Eilene Francis deserve a standing ovation for all their hard work and guidance during this challenging journey. When all was said and done, the electricity was back on,repairs to our town had begun and over $11,000 in scholarship money was raised for some very deserving young ladies of our community. Our profound gratitude and appreciation goes out to the many people and businesses who donated their time and resources to make this event so successful. Working together we realized our goal of helping our children reach their dream of furthering their education.
