Biggest Old Tool Sale in Texas

A furniture maker by trade with a preference for using old hand tools, I naturally began to accumulate, by some folks standards, a few too many tools. In 1997, having already moved to a home with a larger shop, it became all too necessary to "thin the herd" on occasion in order to make room for more recent acquisitions. Knowing there had to be others who shared this passion for old tools, a buddy and I made plans for a backyard sale to do just that. This first attempt was met with such a positive response from other "galoots" (ie. old tool junkies) that a plan was made to periodically repeat the experience, thereby giving birth to what would soon be dubbed the "One Old Sorehead & One Nice Guy" Vintage & Antique Tool Sale.
Though woodworking tools certainly have a dominant presence at the sale, other related crafts and trades are well represented. People from all walks of life seem to turn up and spend hours wandering through this vast accumulation of tools and other unusual items that were common in the lives of their ancestors but are scarcely seen today. Tool users, collectors, woodworkers, hobbyists, handymen and women, machinists, engineers, designers, nostagia buffs, and and a surprising number of fascinated children find treasure amidst the tons of planes, saws, chisels, axes, drills, hammers, edged tools, drawknives, rules, calipers, more obscure "whatsits" and less identifiable oddities.
Through word of mouth and an ever growing mailing list, the OOS & ONG Tool Sale has become the largest accumulation of vintage and antique hand tools offered for sale in the entire state of Texas, and out-of-towners from surrounding states tell us they have nothing like it back home.
On Saturday May 17th and Sunday May 18th the gates will once again open for the 23rd Semi-Annual "One Old Sorehead & One Nice Guy" Vintage & Antique Tool Sale. We look forward to seeing all of the old familiar faces in the crowd as well as the new friends who will discover us for the first time.
