The fun never ends for Cricket the racing Chihuahua and Saturday April 26th was no exception at the PetCo 4th Annual Regional Chihuahua Races in Dallas Tx.  The weather was perfect and the set up was great for the small canine racers.  The idea spot being right out front of the Petco Prestonwood Store's parking lot. 

Imagine 180 Chihuahuas in one place, now imagine them racing each other.  Chihuahuas of every size, shape and color coming together to meet new friends, have fun and show maybe their competitive side too.  Here's how it works...there were 19 packs with 10 racers to a pack.  The winner and the runner up from each pack earned them a spot in the semi finals.  Only the semi final winners got to advance to the Regional Championship race.  Now, here is where Cricket comes in as he was the big winner at the end of the day, yahoo!  This is Cricket's third time to be crowned Regional Champ. 

I have to say that Cricket looked confident and very happy at the same time.  He was very eager to race and he exploded out the racing blocks, never taking his eyes off of Brooke his closest human companion.  Brooke is 15 years old and the proud owner of Cricket who was adopted from the Dallas SPCA and is now 5 years old.  

Brooke's busy school schedule plus driving school takes up a big part of her day but when she gets home she always finds time to spend with Cricket letting him know he's #1.  Brooke trains Cricket in the sport of obedience, flyball and freestyle dancing.  So, as I said earlier the fun never ends for Cricket and I know he wouldn't want it any other  way.

What next?  Over Labor Day Weekend Twelve Regional winners from all over the US will meet up  to compete for the title of Fastest Chihuahua in America at the National Competition.  Cricket has placed 2nd twice in San Diego.  If all goes well Cricket should be a top contender and possible could bring home the gold.
