Students at Valley Ranch Elementary celebrated Earth Day on Friday, May 2nd. Students in Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade participated in Earth Day related crafts & games and were also shown how to start their own compost bin. Students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grade helped prepare the flower beds, plant flowers and place mulch around the campus. All students received a flyer about recycling and a blue bag from the City of Irving so they could start recycling at home.
A big thank you to parent volunteers Peter & Debbie Macrae & the VRE Earth Day committee, Angie Hux, Karen Turner, Tammee Henderson, Mandy Badyna, Jennifer Torres, Debbie Youngs, Linda Mulkey & Kathleen Valenski for putting together such a fun day and helping the students learn how to save the planet!
